I should have full opportunity of embarrassing myself further, though. |

| Is it possible to have social anxiety only in certain circumstances? I have a really hard time becoming friends with people, because I don't know what they would think of my voice, if I would pronounce my words correct, if I would have something on my face, etc. I want to be friends with a lot of people, but I can't collect my thoughts well and ask them about stuff. Sometimes I feel completely normal. I can sometimes raise my hand in class and calmly answer the teacher in front of the entire class. |

| With my social anxiety, there are a number of possible causes: being afraid of receiving unfair criticism, getting trapped into a long, uncomfortable conversation where I start losing confidence in myself and struggle to make further eye-contact (which has actually happened from past experience), etc. but it mainly feels like I'm just grasping for a reason. People like to have reasons, so I always like to have one ready for them, but in truth the anxiety is an describable, intangible, overpowering sense of worry and shock. |
