The fallacy where someone says something is wrong based on where or who it comes from.

Example: "Sinii said it therefore it's wrong and immoral!!

^When a source is known for being false or extremely biased (e.g. wikipedia) it's likely that most people won't agree with what you are saying.

When Sinii is a known liar and all around idiot, its likely people won't trust what she has to say.

"1+1=2, is not an opinion."

I don't recall ever saying that...

I'm saying that, if I said a fact, you would automatically claim it wrong no matter what it was, all because of the person who said it. This is called the genetic fallacy.

No, I was claiming that your opinion are wrong because they are backed by nothing and are easily dismissable.

Not that hard of a concept to grasp.

Really? Seems like you are just reusing the same ol' genetic fallacy whenever you say something like, "Sinii is a liar, therefore what SHE says is wrong. Hehehehehehe snort ahha hohoho I said she lol I'm gonna piss my pants laughing oh god I dies at me".

A lot of colleges (if not all) refuse to accept essays that list Wikipedia as a source.
'Wikipedia is an extreme example of a website that is not reviewed by scholars in the field. It is prone to opinions and inaccuracies. Wikipedia is an acceptable source for beginning a research project, but it is not acceptable as a research citation. Use Wikipedia to find better sources, not as a source in and of itself.'

It's not "extremely biased" nor THAT "false".
However, it's still a genetic fallacy to immediately say something is wrong because it's coming from wikipedia JUST because it's coming from wikipedia.

How is this relevant? If you state something with a source from Wikipedia, it's not automatically wrong. It's a genetic fallacy to assume so.

Fallacies are a lose-lose. If you point out the fallacy and dismiss their argument, you're committing the fallacy fallacy.

I believe that's because Wikipedia is subject to change -- not because it is usually wrong.

Are you particularly knowledgeable about a subject? Read its Wikipedia page and tell me how much of it is wrong.

I hate it when people say that Wikipedia is not a credible or good source.
Sure, it's not 100% credible, but it's still a perfect source for general information and most information about something. Besides, it's not Wikipedia itself that you can use but the sources it used.

Btw some Dutch schools allowed students to also edit/make an article/articles on Wikipedia for a grade. The teachers can then correct the mistakes.

Correction, they swarm the page to make sure it is in line with there way of thought.

See Men's Rights Movement page.

Wikipedia is by no means unbiased; you're better off using it to find sources in the references tab.
