"Two minutes!"
A tremor runs through the shuttle. You know this may be the last mission for your teammates, or even yourself for that matter. Or for anyone else, in any of the other shuttles hurtling towards the surface.
"Thirty seconds!"
An impact rings through the shuttle, but nothing ruptures. Minor damage. Then there's a boom. Everyone stirs, thinking the shuttle has touched down. Then there's a loud crack, and an even louder BOOM. The cockpit has been destroyed, and you can feel the air rushing out.
Everyone grabs a helmet, and a few attempt to grab a weapon, but there's no time. There's a CRASH, for a fraction of a second you see the opposite wall caving in, rock jutting up from it. And then everything blacks out.

You slowly drag yourself out of your slumber. You feel groggy, weak, and somewhat surprised you aren't dead. As you look around, you realize you aren't in the shuttle anymore. Clean white walls surround you, and on the wall to your left there is a small tray with some items that you can't quite make out on it. Straining, you can see you are lying on a slightly tilted table, like they use in medical facilities.

Looking around some more, you take in the bigger picture. You can't see a door, but you do spy a panel on the wall in front of you, near the left wall. As for the door, it could simply be meticulously hidden or simply out of your sightline. Coming back and examining your table, you are relieved to find you aren't strapped down, as they sometimes do.

Even though you feel a bit weak still, looking around gave you the time to recoup your energy enough so that you can still stand as your trembling legs get a feel for the ground.

Walking over, you examine the tray and the tools it holds. Some of them you have no idea about, while a couple you think you know very well. You do, however, get the distinct feeling that all of these have medical purposes. Two of the tools, including one you regognize, are lined up straight, next to each other, while the others are scattered across the tray.

Walking over and examining the panel, at first it appears flat, but you find a latch that opens up to reveal a small screen at the top and about 30 buttons below it. There are no labels to indicate which button does what.

You press the first button that draws your eye, and the screen at the top lights up. A single word appears: CONFIRM. A small button near the bottom of the panel begins blinking, while another button at the top right near the screen glows.

A: Press the blinking button B: Press the glowing button C: Walk away and look for a way out

You press the glowing button, and the floor around your "bed" seems to distort... you aren't sure what's happening over there, but you are very glad that you aren't in it. However, you gather the knowledge that the glowing button probably confirms a command, and the blinking button returns it. Looking back at the panel, you see that both buttons have returned to a regular state, with no lights.

A: Press another button. B: Look for a way out. |

Searching the room, careful to avoid the distorted spot where the table you were on is, you look for an exit. Upon closer examination of the walls, you find small vents, barely big enough to see, laced all throughout the walls. This allows you to breath, or else you might suffocate. You also find a hairline depression on the left wall, right next to the control panel.

Returning to the control panel, you mentally note the button you pressed previously, as well as the confirm and deny buttons.
OPTIONS:
A: Press the top button nearest to the left wall. B: Press the middle button nearest to the left wall. C: Press the bottom button nearest to the left wall. D: Press a button at random. |

You take a chance and press the first button that draws your finger to it. As with the last time, the screen at the top lights up, asking CONFIRM.
