The city of Haren was the capital of the kingdom of Vu, and where the prisoners had to be cleaned out regularly. One would have thought that meant an execution, right?
Wrong. Kind of.
Vu is the only kingdom on it's continent, and it confuses many why expansion hasn't taken place. The reason why is because giant beasts make their homes in the core of the continent, and have completely halted any idea of expansion. The Vuian king not only wanted that unclaimed land, but needed it to make a statement of strength. As such, he kept the knowledge of these beasts a secret to all but him, his line, and a select few military officers and then formed a new kind of punishment for Haren's prisons. The Trail.
Haren's crowded prisons gained spare room as all of those prisoners were gathered up and dumped past a wall out of Vu. They were given a weapon, and told that they must now give their lives killing the beasts to extinction.
Decades after this had all started, however, a city of these prisoners had developed under the royal family's noses. Hearth was massive, half the size of even Haren, with houses and farms, forges and inns. Even those who had recently came had found their way to here. The veterans, the new ones, the children of the first prisoners, all had come here, and all had lived for one thing: To fulfill their original purpose, and with the strength they had gained hunting these things, crush Vu under their feet. Hearth is their base, their fort. It had been destroyed many times before by the beasts, but it had been rebuilt. It's where all learn to combat beasts stronger and more menacing than they are, and that no matter what Mother Nature throws at them, they are more than her equal...
They are her conqueror.

So... yeah... Got bored... Played Monster Hunter... Got inspiration from it... Kind of a free-roam, but a central plot will become apparent as you guys do your side stories thingies. This will be in the style of one of those rps where you do an action and I do the reaction.
-----
The World as Hearth Knows It
Hearth: A city of simple wooden houses with stone frames. Efforts have been made to increase their quality to better withstand attacks from beasts, but it was deemed to expensive to use other materials.
Vuian Border: The border to Vui is made impossible to pass by walls designed to stop beasts as well as crazed prisoners and stretch across it's entirety. There is also a small naval blockade.
The Yrtu'Ashi Plains: The Plains are surrounded by mountains and are covered in strange rock formations. This is where all the prisoners are dumped at, and at the far end of it, beyond sight from the border, lies Hearth. However, the plains have yetis, which are territorial beasts that naturally reach enormous on the classification system.
The Looming Mountains: The Mountains are a mountain range the covers the side of the plains that the border does not. It's treacherous land, and many a hunting expedition have wandered into it only to not be seen again.
The Jungle of Keel: The comically named Keel had found that hunting on the plains and the mountains had gotten to be quite boring. As such, he went onto exploring past the mountains and found that the other side contained a massive jungle with beasts never heard of before. This is as far as Hearth's maps go, and few dare to go past the jungle.
-----
Hunting has turned from more than a mere job for the denizens of the Trail, but a art. They have mastered various forms of combat and styles. The three largest are adopted from these three legends of hunters:
Nerole: Nerole founded a style of offense that dealt more with agility than anything, climbing the backs of giant beasts and dodging every hit.
Bory: Bory was always a bit thick skulled, and it shows with his method of heavy armor, and heavy sword to just stand in front of the beast and cut off their limbs and stuff. Wasn't very effective at first, but it showed when his shield stopped the breath of the mighty dragon Gi, who had burned down Hearth several times until Bory mounted his head on a wall.
Olra: Olra, unlike the other two, was patient. She never fought a battle head on, but instead used traps, timing, and weird gadgets of her own making to incapacitate enemies while she put arrows in their eyes... and stuff... and yeah...
These are mighty fine examples of hunters, and a lot of hunters, though not all, take after their examples, even if they're all dead, and they are also inherent to the culture of Hearth, respected as much as one would respect a god.
The hunters have also learned to classify the beasts. Their classification system, since beasts are often alike, works simply.
Physical Traits: These can be tails, wings, fur, scales, although it becomes important that some traits are optional, such as some Jabberwockies have wings but they do not need wings to be classified as a Jabberwocky. Size: The hunters have made four sizes. These are usually determined by their species, as most sizes are inherent, but not all, for there have been some smaller or larger than usual. The four sizes are: Small, Human, Large, Enormous. Gender: Gender does matter. A male dragon is called a dragon, but a female dragon appears different, and is called a wyvern.

I must ask; what kind of equipment is being given to the 'released' prisoners? I mean, they ARE prisoners, so you'd expect maybe a shirt, with a knife. However, they're expected to actually be productive and clear the island. So, they won't actually accomplish anything with a knife, and he's throwing them to slaughter. So, exactly what limit are we looking at here? |

| Well, they toss them out to the other side of the wall, lock the gate, and leave weapons lie on a table. The kind of weapons depend on what spares are left over in the armory. They can be anything, from spears, to halberds, sometimes even cavalry swords are on the table. It's really just random. |

Alright. How about armour? I suppose it's the same way? Maybe you'll a single steel boot, possibly a shield, that sort of way? I just wanna get all the details straight before I go any deeper. |

While it is true that the Vuians do expect productivity, they're more expecting over time, and as such do no wish to spend money to outfit the prisoners in armor. They all come out there in rags.
Of course, that being said, in Hearth, they do have blacksmiths who work to forge armor and better weapons for the city's denizens. |

I knew I was forgetting something...
Yes, females are possible. Just ignore the mishap of a lack of the gender. I'll just make assumptions based on whether or not you say she or he or her or him. |

Alright. Now, how long has this been going on? I ask this primarily to get a good idea of how well developed the prisoners have become. Also, when was the last attack on their 'home' by the beasts? |

@ Bull
I am actually pretty persistent, and so as long as the RPers are persistent, this will most likely wind up finishing.
@ Michel
Fun fact, I don't an exact date. These people are building a massive refuge in the midst of a lot of monsters, including really giant ones, that wouldn't mind having a human sandwich. Even though I'm the creator, I can't tell the results of those circumstances, especially considering the description mentions that Hearth has been razed to the ground many times before. However, I would imagine it to be your classic D&D small village/town put up to the size of an entire city, especially considering that Hearth was mentioned to have started some number of decades. Not only that, but anyone can be a prisoner, so that would include geniuses of their generations contributing to Hearth's technological gain. |

Alright. So, I guess we'll have to eyeball it. Yeah, I think I could behind this idea. Maybe after school. |

Name: Cleric Joseph (of) Astic Age: 28 years and 7 months Appearance: Reasonably short but also lean and thin, any sign of fat is hard pressed to find. Are you descended from previous prisoners?: New arrival, but with a rather unique reason.

Both accepted.
It also appears that not only have I forgotten to add in gender, but I have also forgotten to add in a bio to the C.S.es... I'll just have to play along.
And as such, we shall begin!
-Cleric (Or do you prefer Joseph?)-
The streets of Hearth blew dust in between the buildings and into your eyes. It's still quite a shock such civilization grew under the noses of the Royal family. You look down at the slip of paper one of the denizens had given you. It directed you to a house in the center of Hearth. Supposedly, the person inside had put out offers of refuge for new prisoners, but you had no clue as to the catch.
-Sydros-
You wake up choking on smoke. Pollution from fires had been bad in Haren, but never this bad. At least it's shelter. Some folks on the outer part of Hearth were kind to offer you refuge on their ranch, although it still shocks you this ranch didn't raise cows, but giant turtles the size of a house used to caravan hunters into some place they call the Jungle of Keel. It begs to question if they even have cows and horses outside of Vu. |

(Oh god... If this is one of those rps where you control everything...) (Also, either title.)
Cleric Joseph-
"This is the place... I grant." Joseph looks around, and he flips out his coin. Of course, he got this coin to fulfill it, though he will still need to fi- "Oh for the sakes..." Joseph, already heading in the opposite direction, turns around to head to this 'house'. |

(Indeed it is. It mentioned this just below the description.)
-Cleric Joseph-
The house appears to be larger than most. The wood is old, but surprisingly not rotting away yet. It also seems to have two floors, about as large as a noble's house in Haren. Over the door is a skull of some weird creature. |
