| this proved that not even the great 'murica could treat it, none the less even come near to a cure for it. so apparently its a death sentence when you become infected. and obama still is accepting flights from africa which is really worrying us, any smart person would have shut it down and i believe there is an underlying reason with him not closing it down |

| People die from illness all the time, this is nothing out of the ordinary. Some people have already been cured in America. Still, I agree that Obama should shut down flights |

And he was back in the hospital because he had a confirmed case on pinkeye, not ebola again. |

The hospital sent him home the first time he went, meaning he went around 4 days without treatment and was already in the advanced stages of it. The hospital screwed up by not relaying his recently traveled information well enough. Not to mention there's also been multiple people who have made full recoveries from Ebola.
Don't really think you can chalk up a Dallas hospital's mistake to "not even the great 'murica" being able to treat it has already been treated successfully multiple times. |

Look at all of those affected countries! Wow, better refuse every single flight from Africa!

"Except Africans will be spreading it to other African countries. Keep it in that continent."
That's incredibly ignorant. This outbreak's been going on since December and only 5 nations have even had it in Africa, and two aren't having any cases right now (Senegal and Nigeria).

| That doesn't mean its not gonna happen. The Black Plague lasted for years and with far more efficient transportation anything is possible |

Ebola: 7,493 cases. 3,439 deaths. 0.458% death rate. All but one of those deaths were in Africa. It isn't as infectious nor as far spread as the media is making it seem. The most infected country (Liberia, with 3,834 confirmed cases) has ~0.001% of its population infected.
Is that really enough to shut down flight, especially considering the majority of infections from Ebola are in small villages?
"The Black Plague lasted for years and with far more efficient transportation anything is possible"
Let's compare these two diseases, shall we?
Black Plague: 1350's Europe, spread through black rats. Ebola: 2014 Africa (excluding 2 cases), body fluids of those showing symptons have to come in contact with your eyes, nose, mouth or broken skin, like a cut, wound or abrasion to infect you. Ebola isn't airborne, and it doesn't spread by water.
I can see how they are comparable...not.

also how the hell do you even enforce flight bans?
The patient had to fly from Monrovia to Brussels, Belgium to Washington DC to Dallas. At what point would a travel ban make sense?

45.8% death rate, obviously not serious at all
Now we have cars, planes, and more industrialization than ever before. Disease can still spread more rapidly even if it has to be via bodily fluids |
