So the predators sent down their first pick in the draft Kevin Fiala. Here are some of the responses.
"cannot believe rhey cut their first round pick"
"Wasted first round draft pick on a player you now have sent back to Sweden, doesn't make sense! Thought you did your homework? Saw an article on how Preds system had changed. Don't see the changes in the system. Still a dump and chase offense, no offensive attack, just pass the puck around on power plays. And yes I've played hockey for years"
Thank god there is people who are smart to explain to this idiots.
"in the NHL very seldom do draft picks make the team in their first year. A good example would be last year with Jonathan Drouin who was selected 3rd overall. He dominated in junior and seemed NHL ready but the TB Lightning considered it important for him to develop further as a hockey player and sent him back to the Halifax Mooseheads. He could very well win the Calder Trophy this year and become a Star. Fiala is similar in that he's a smaller forward who relies heavily on his skill/intelligence and will need time to develop. HV 71 are a solid team in Sweden's top tier league (One of the very best leagues in the world), and will be a perfect place for him to develop as he is still quite young, inexperienced and lacking strength. Adversely, there is no reason to think that he won't be an All Star level forward in the future. His production in the SHL last year was historic for a player of his age and he has a fantastic skillset.
Compare him to former 11th overall pick (in 1995) Jarome Iginla. Iggy was taken with an identical pick and was sent back to junior for the 95-96 season to develop. He dominated, grew as a player and even played 2 playoff games with the Flames that year, scoring 2 points in 2 games (keep in mind, Fiala could likely join either the Ads or the Preds at the end of year if possible). The next season he scored 50 points for the Calgary Flames and has since enjoyed a potential Hall of Fame level career, winning an Art Ross trophy and reaching 1,000 points. I'm not saying that Fiala will enjoy that level of success but there is never anything wrong with sending a recently drafted first round pick back to junior, especially one taken outside the top 5. As someone who has also played, followed and loved hockey for years I have every bit of faith that Fiala was a superb selection at 11th overall and that the Preds system is indeed moving in the right direction. This move shouldn't be at all surprising."

| It doesn't say that the Flames drafted him, it just says that he was drafted 11th overall and that he played 2 playoff games for the Flames in 95-96, which he did. |
