Well, its actually simple. Before metalcore, there was nu-metal. Nu-metal took the scene from 1993-2007. Nu-Metal was a mix of hip-hop and metal. Perfect examples are KoRn and Limp Bizkit. You would rap, then growl during the chorus, then rap. It had heavy guitar riffs, but no solo's. The style was also a mix of hip-hop and metal. You would wear hoodie's with excercise shorts, or a metal band t-shirt, with the hip-hop style hats. Metalheads would call us posers. Then when Nu-Metal ended in 2007, metalcore took our place. Nu-Metal fans hated metalcore fans, because metalcore ended Nu-Metal. One metalheads saw the uproar between Nu-Metal and Metalcore, they took a look at it. Metalcore instituted the metal style, with a more modern aproach. Examples of metalcore will be Avenged Sevenfold and Killswitch Engage. Metalheads don't like metalcore, because they rip-off heavy metal bands. Killswitch Engage ripped off DIO, as Avenged Sevenfold ripped off Pantera and MetallicA. So, they called metalcore posers. When it comes down to it, the real reason is MTV. MTV instituted, and funded, these styles. Calling it "edgy". People wanted to be edgy, so they went after these bands. Metalheads just want metal. Simple as that. We don't want public approval of what we listen to. Why should I care if you like what I listen to or not? We don't live for your approval, we live to listen to our bands. MTV made the mistake of trying to 'fix' the genre. You don't fix something that isn't broken. But, MTV will never learn that. They insist on shoving reality TV down your throat.

Some (most I think, actually) Metalcore is Post-Hardcore with a few Metal influences as opposed to being mostly Metal with some Post-Hardcore influences.

It could be that some people get ants in their pants when someone brands themselves a Metalhead when they only listen to Metalcore that heavily leans towards the Core side rather than the Metal side.

Also, Kurshack made a point about Deathcore that I sort of agree with and think also carries over to Metalcore, which is that the harsh vocals almost always carry a "Grr, I'm tough! Bite me, I dare you!" sound to them which is just annoying.

avenged sevenfold haven't been metalcore in 9 years
killswitch engage didn't rip off Dio, they just covered a song of theirs.

I think Metalheads don't like Metalcore because a lot of it is really stale garbo that puts a lot of focus on the appearances of the members (kinda like hair metal).
also, the emo kids.

Metalheads ain't been listening to the more Hardcore-oriented side of Metalcore tho. That's where the good stuff's at.

it has a completely different following, and it's quite different musically. thats why it's not "metal". why we don't like it is because it's horrid beyond words.

I don't know what metalcore really is, metalcore is way too diverse in itself

bands like Enter Shikari, August Burns Red, Beartooth and Chunk No, Captain Chunk are all classified as "metalcore" in some way but they are all completely different

(out of all of them Beartooth is the most emo but even then they are a total far cry from emo)

Enter Shikari literally sounds nothing like Beartooth.

Chunk No, Captain Chunk literally sounds nothing like August Burns Red

you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

certain metalcore bands are accepted
Atreyu, Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold, Of Mice & Men, Beartooth, A Day To Remember, Killswitch Engage, Motionless In White, Slipknot, and Hatebreed all seem to have a decent amount of acceptance in the metal community

♫ They say that love is forever / Your forever is all that I need ♫

You see metal elitists always complain about how metalcore is just scene and that all they care about is their image, but I feel like metal elitists care just as much about their image as scene kids, because they have to look "bad ass" and be super elitist to fit the description of a metal head.
