--Hannibal Barca--
The echo hit the thatched roofs repeatedly. Every soldier heard learned to dread that familiar bark. They would have still dreaded it, if they still stood. The bark of the dogs whom had came to sack all of Italia and eradicate what all held dear. The fog slowly cleared to reveal the village of Canae. You would have expected to see it bustling, alive with thousands of villagers selling fresh meat to other villagers as the fresh smell of manure filled every one of their nostrils. You would have expected a river unstained of the bodies of the entire village. Neither was true. The village sat as still and idle you can be when the thatched roofs twinkle with freshly lit sparks, on parts of the dirt road the mangled corpses of the villagers lay as still as their village. The stalls stood vigilantly, either overturned or still standing proudly; stripped of all their wares. Even the pots had been taken. The river was not untainted by the bodies of the villagers who had attempted to escape, instead it happily totted them as a simply of pride and statue. It's mere presence gloated at the slaughter that had been brought here. As if to join the gloating river, the army that had laid ruin to this village sat in a fort on their side of the plain. All but the trees and the wretched fort lay idle. A few dozen numidians, the missile cavalry of Hannibal Barca were the culprits, and yet, they had only taken a share of the loot. Instead, the Libyans and the Iberians had glutted themselves on the spoils of the village and countless others. This entire side of Italia had been purged, no village or unfortified town moved.
For days and night, the fort remained and the village sat empty. On the second day, ten kilometers away the view was filled with red banners, patterned shields and the shine of glistening metal. The army marched out of the tree line, formed and fortified a camp, proceeding to sit there. The new encampment was many miles longer than the previous fort, dwarfing the conquering army by an amusing amount. The side of the newer camp, filled to the brim with roman legionnaires frequently suffered from the opposition's numidians. The general of the smaller army requested a battle, which was brusquely denied. Both sides sat idly for another day, the numidians continued their assault endlessly. Neither side released their position. On this day, two maniples of hastati and one maniple of principes moved from the fort to reinforce the further flung estates to the east, across the river. Hopefully they had not been sacked yet. The faces of the hastati are young and naive, eager to make their place in the republic. The principes are not that much better, with their mail shirts being the only real distinguishing feature amongst them both.
Fight at Cannae, control your maniple in the upcoming battle of cannae.
-STARTING GROUND-
On the start of the RP, you have a single unit of hastati. A single principes unit is behind your line. A usual amount of velites has accompanied you. You are currently moving across a dirt road. One side is grassland and the other side, your right is covered in dense forest. Your men are eager and ready for a fight, although you will have to keep them from retreating through thoroguh discipline.
-Rules-
1, As a maniple centurion, you control a total of one hundred and twenty men.
2, Each ISRP will follow your maniple.. and.. guess what, someone elses. Each Maniple has two centurions. The first two to join will be paired up in the first ISRP, and so on. You will have to consult with the other player in roleplay in order to survive the estates fighting and the battle of cannae.
3, You're a centurion, sure, you're not that great at tactics but you can sense when it's going wrong and get your men back into fighting positions.
4, Centurions aren't young pretty boys. Sorry.
5, You post your actions and I decide what happens. Shoving your one hundred and twenty men into a much larger libyan force will, obviously get you and your men killed.
6, This is Rome! Women have no place in armies!
7, My word is law.
8, Listening to your fellow centurion WILL benefit you.
9, Your maniple is not instantaneously turning around.
10, There's a HIGH chance that if you either ignore your fellow centurion, then your side of the maniple will suffer more heavily. Why? Because that feature is not meant to instill teamwork, not isolation.
11, Hey look, you've got a bunch of quickly trained commoners as your maniple. Better keep them disciplined, lest they all run away.
12, Hannibal.

Name: Vitus Age: 34 Appearance: A thin man, with the look of a runner over a soldier. He's fairly strong after all of these years in the army. Black hair, blue eyes, the odd one out in Italy. Heavily scarred. Wealth: Not too wealthy, not too poor. Armor: The usual stuff, he's spent what money he has to make certain that armor will protect him. Popularity: Among the men, Vitus is not a very popular leader. He's kind if your wounded, and very, very harsh. Tactical Skill: Excellent. Biography: Vitus came from a long line of people swinging swords against people. As such, he had a few things that would help him in his military career. Eventually promoted... to this hastati's leader. Another group of people to train. Other: Hannibal? I couldn't find the word.

| (Oh hello, Cyantic. Don't worry. I'll help you with the information on romans. Just ask. Since you're the first of the pair, you'll be the senior centurion. Do you wish to do a paired ISRP or nah?) |

(A paired ISRP is cool. I'm also reading a lot about typical roman soldiers and such, trying to see what I have to work with. Honestly, I just don't know anything about hatati's or roman promotion systems, that sort of thing) |

Name: Arguile Age: 34 Appearance: Medium to heavy build, stubbled face, stockier height, average to long limbs. Blue eyes, brown hair. Wealth: Wealthy but not rich, like middle class-high class, in the middle but not either of the two. Armor: Standard centurion armor, worn from age but still just as strong. Popularity: Respected/popular. Like, they know he's strict and ready to get down to it when the time calls for it but can also be loose and relaxed. Tactical Skill: Arguile knows that without order there is chaos and so he makes sure that orders are circulated and carried out by the letter. Biography: TBA? Other: Also rule 3 is false, centurions were actually good tacticians as well(it varied) as they not only commanded maniples and such but more senior centurions could take the place as a cohorts commander.
Yes. I know roman military stuff, at least a bit.

| (True. But we're the lowest of the low centurions. Seriously. We're controlling hastati. We suck.) |

--HASTATUS--
These guys are the newest in the army. Do not mistake that with wealth. They own a decent amount of land and can afford a square plate for their chest. They're not really the best, but they can handle most enemies easily. Sadly, since you're up against the experienced Libyan Army, they're going to need a lot more urging. They generally throw two to three pilums before engaging the enemy. Here's an artists' depiction.

--VELITES--
These are the skirmishers, they have wolf strips on their helmet and throw javelins. They only have a small shield for protection.
--PRINCIPES--
Upped hastati, richer, stronger and more experienced. They have mail shirts instead of the square plate. They form the second line. |
