Is a good job or will get them anywhere

it's so easy to acess through the internet and find ways to learn it

You don't even need to go through college for that

Like it's really easy for you to find how to do HTml

And Python etc,

1. HTML isn't a programming language.
2. No, it isn't as easy as that. CodeAcademy doesn't teach you to code crap it is garbage.
3. Yes, it can get you real jobs.

Yes, you can learn it via the Internet.
Yes, you still need a degree of sorts in Software Engineering (or similar depending on application prerequisites) if you want a good paying job for typing code.
Yes, a ton of people can program.

Most of them are just too lazy to work for that degreee to get a good job.

I believe programming is a skill...not knowledge. It's art.

But what sets college apart from the internet is that you are taught how to apply these skills in the real world

meanwhile on yt you just learn how to make stuff that usually isn't practical

You can "learn" most things through the Internet.

Sites which teach you programming are far inferior to books.

You only need a degree to work for others not necessarily yourself.

A lot of people can program. A lot of people can also not program well or securely.

It's like saying "LOL BEING A LOCKSMITH CANT PAY" or et cetera.

@isaac
You've been doing too much Perl and not enough Python.

This I mostly agree with.
Reading books can also teach you how to reply it and gives you a much more concrete knowledge.

I think it's less about the skill itself and more about what you do with it or how you can use it to make an impact on something

It is easy to learn, and while drawing is difficult to do and at times costs LOTS of money it even has less careers for it so shut up.

The market will be saturated by the time this generation is out of college.

The high paying jobs will switch from the specialty to the technical, because there will be a lack of people who know how to use their hands.
