And generalization.
Pretty much what this forum is all about, apparently. Oh, this is a great haven of communication and social activity, ain't it? |

"Discrimination And generalization." Against who?
"Pretty much what this forum is all about, apparently. Oh, this is a great haven of communication and social activity, ain't it?"
Disagreeing with someone is not discrimination. Saying a group would most likely do something is not generalization.
Disregarding someone and insulting someone based only on something such as gender, race, etc. is discrimination. Saying something like 'all ____ will ____ when _____ happens' is generalization. |

Actually let's change that. Discriminate against SFAS as much as you want, but noone else. |

"Against who?"
...Because I am talking about discrimination against one group? Um, no, there are many different instances of discrimination against many different groups, and they're all visible on this forum.
"Disagreeing with someone is not discrimination. Saying a group would most likely do something is not generalization."
I never said otherwise. Disagreeing isn't discrimination, but people do say all the time that people of certain country, ethnicity, religion, or something else are lesser when compared to another group, which I find pretty sad. I sincerely hope that this forum's community isn't a microcosm of the younger members of this generation.
Discrimination is insulting based on someone being part of a certain group. Generalization is commenting based on someone being part of a certain group, and it doesn't need to be at all hostile or insulting. Racism is generalization except based on race or, in some cases, ethnicity. It doesn't need to be insulting either.
For an example of the obvious generalization that you are overlooking, look no further than those topics people create that talk about ranking countries, saying being liberal or feminist is generally bad, and saying all people in a certain country are lesser compared to another. |

"saying being liberal or feminist is generally bad, and saying all people in a certain country are lesser compared to another."
We're more referring to the Tumblr-style feminists who tend to focus on looking for excuses to be offended, who generally are incredibly annoying. We have nothing against feminism, it's an excellent concept. It's simply the fact that feminists nowadays focus more on non-existent or minor issues in western society instead of focusing on places where women face ACTUAL oppression.
As for Liberalism, it's also not a bad thing. Being open to change is necessary to life, the problem is some of the changes are for the worst. We're mostly talking about the liberals who are closer to radicals, the ones who are closer on the scale to moderates are generally fine. And I disagree with going completely to either side of the political beliefs, as a moderate who takes some ideas from each side. |
