| Not to bring epistemology into OT, but I've recently been wondering about solipsist theory. Certainly, the only thing that is known to exist to an individual is his or her own mind, correct? Indeed, infants and toddlers are believed to express solipsist traits until they grow older, but can they be correct? The only thing certain to me is that my mind exists; outside of it, to my mind, you--and the world--are merely of my imagination. |

| I am certain that my mind exists because I am capable of thought, no? I am aware and am capable of thought. |

| This wasn't copied and pasted because I recently started researching this after reading 1984 by George Orwell. |

| @Future: Well, this could be defined as "deep." Solipsism is the only epistemological position that cannot be proven or refuted. |

| @Stonixx I'm not a nihlist, I am simply exploring the possibility that nothing outside of my mind exists. I am neither confirming nor denying solipsism, but I am merely bringing up the theory of it. |

Imagination is based off of reality You think because you observe things, record them, and reframe them in your mind There is no original thought
So the entirety of your mind is based off of things you imagine, why are you sure your mind isn't imagined? |

| @Dalziellian: I think you have this backward. Solipsism states that there is no such thing as reality--that reality is merely a fabrication of the mind. That being said, I am sure that my mind isn't imagined because I am capable of thought. |

| I cannot believe how incredibly stupid you are. I mean rock-hard stupid. Dehydrated-rock-hard stupid. Stupid so stupid that it goes way beyond the stupid we know into a whole different dimension of stupid. You are trans-stupid stupid. Meta-stupid. Stupid collapsed on itself so far that even the neutrons have collapsed. Stupid gotten so dense that no intellect can escape. Singularity stupid. Blazing hot mid-day sun on Mercury stupid. You emit more stupid in one second than our entire galaxy emits in a year. Quasar stupid. Your writing has to be a troll. Nothing in our universe can really be this stupid. Perhaps this is some primordial fragment from the original big bang of stupid. Some pure essence of a stupid so uncontaminated by anything else as to be beyond the laws of physics that we know. I'm sorry. I can't go on. This is an epiphany of stupid for me. After this, you may not hear from me again for a while on OT. I don't have enough strength left to deride your ignorant questions and half baked comments about unimportant trivia, or any of the rest of this drivel. Duh. |

I know what solipsism is, don't patronise me.
What I'm saying is that you can't prove your mind is real |

@Dal: Sorry.
Anyway, by your position, then nobody can prove that their mind exists. Then the universe is fake. |

| @awsome: That's debatable. If I enjoy an intellectual discussion of epistemology, then why not let me do the things I enjoy? You talk of procreation, but I'm not sure I am of age to do that. |
