you know the drill.
i've been seeing a lot of talk about a hamilton team and a second toronto team, but the nhl doesn't want to relocate to those places for the time being. and what are your thoughts about las vegas ever getting a team?
seattle, portland and kansas are all trying to get teams too.
personally, i hope seattle and a few more canadian teams come in. the nhl can accommodate more teams without relocating, although florida and phoenix should just give up trying now. |

Nobody is talking about Salt Lake City.
Underrated sport city. They have an arena, and have a history of supporting the sport, even if it's just the Olympics. |

| Salt Lake City's largest arena that can host hockey games would be the smallest arena by 1000 seats in its hockey configuration, and sucks ass anyway. |

Wisconsin has really great hockey.
Some of the best NHL players have came from the UW or the state alone.
Like Joe Pavelski, Ryan Seuter.
A team in the state would really bring hockey alive. |

| small arenas don't mean anything. if people support nhl in salt lake, i'm sure a franchise would be a viable option. |

"Wisconsin has really great hockey."
i know enough about the nfl to know that no wisconsin team could have any chance of competing against the packers.

Seattle right now is the best choice for an expansion because it's in the West in a decent market and is building a new arena specifically for the aim of hosting pro sports franchises in the NBA and NHL.
The second spot is a fight between Portland and Quebec City.
By the time Bettman decides to expand to 32 teams, both will have a suitable arena. Both cities have a major junior team with a good fanbase. Quebec City has the upper hand in the sense that it's a better hockey market and has had a NHL team in the past, but the disadvantage is that it's in the East and moving a team there would cause the East to have 17 teams to the West's 15, unless they decide to move Detroit or Columbus back to the West, which would be a pain in the ass for either team's road trips. |

| Yet we still have the bucks, and the brewers (who have a shot at making the post season still). |

A Wisconsin team should happen.
The University of Wisconsin loves their hockey at the Kohl Center. Which has a capacity over 15k. |

| Yonnd, should a Wisconsin team get one ahead of Quebec, Seattle and Kansas though? From the seems of things, only cities who can sustain a fanbase and financial security will get teams. |

as a resident of madison, wisconsin
wisconsin should NOT get an nhl team
trust me, we would not support them after the first couple seasons unless they were REALLY good

NHL could get a halifax team, most games wouble be a sell out, plus they're building a new arena which could be turned into a NHL sized since they're planning 4 rinks inside one arena.
Also a team in The east (Nb, Pei, Ns, Cape Breton) could get a hockey team, they are fit, plus a AHL team has been in Fredericton and they could create an arena |

well there needs to be 2 western teams to balance out the conferences before they can think about the east...

| True, it's really simple in words, but you'd have to stop work on the Halifax arena site until the west got 1-2 teams, than start ideas to see how the fan base would be, because a lot of people from NB, PEI & Cape Breton would travel 7-8 hours to see NHL. It 'd be a lot better than travling to Montreal. |

The Conference balance is simple:
Let Seattle have a team, then if another Eastern team comes in, you can move Detroit back to the West. |

| LOL I'm sorry Harlequins but if you knew better, Austin and San Antonio are both Texas cities more deserving of an NHL team than Houston. Better attendance and fan support. Tremendously. Not to mention Houstonians only care about football, basketball, soccer, and rugby. Barely even baseball now that the Astros are awful. |
