okay.. so since around summer or so ive noticed my laptop runs very hot and will occasionally overheat and shut down. anyways.. desperate for a solution i buy a freaking 50 dollar laptop cooling fan with my leftover money and i try it out. as i am playing sims 4 (which is a great game btw) i notice my laptop is getting way hotter than it did the previous day without the cooling fan while playing sims. i download some speccy thing and it tells me my average temperature of my CPU was 104 celsius! woo!!!!!! i panic and i close out of sims 4 and i just leave the laptop running with the fan. it goes down to 90-94 celsius consistently with just the internet up and with the fan on. i then close the laptop for 10 minutes with the fan running and i check back on it and its still at 90-94 celsius. now ive been using the laptop without the cooling fan and its consistent at 90-94 celsius.. so it makes me happy that ive wasted my 50 dollars and knowing that my laptop could easily break due to very high temperatures..
what is going on with this laptop? it can run games perfectly fine btw but since this summer its been getting hot. the laptop will be two years old in december.
and the fan isnt clogged with dust. i sprayed it with compressed air about two weeks ago i think and i dont see any dust on the fans..
help? im about to lose hope in this laptop lol.. |

ok. so you won't be getting serious advice on Off-Topic, go to a geek squad, a computer help center/salesman, or visit a computer professional forum (like that toms hardware website), there you'll get serious advice.

Okay I read it out of pity.
1. Make sure when you have you computer on to not have the vents covered or blocked. They need to breathe. Think of your computer as a pet (as weird as it may sound) and treat it nicely.
2. I would take it to a Best Buy or a company that fixes/diagnoses computers and see what they have to say about it.
Hope it works out for you :P

oh i know that. i make sure they arent. thats why i always keep it on a flat surface and that nothing is in the way of the fans. still have temperature issues |

When your computer is having prolonged problems like yours, it's best to just have it taken to some professionals..or get a new one..but getting a new one is your last resort.

see if you got malwares
they can sl;ow down crap
also, check task manager for programs using a lot of CPU
something may be using a lot of CPU usually make the computer work more, which heats it up

what are your specs on your computer?
there might be dust clogging the fan, making it overheat. |

im currently checking for malware.. i just checked task manager and besides malwarebytes running a scan, its mostly system related stuff taking up my CPU.
malwarebytes was at like 37% CPU lmfao
