I am starting to learn LUA and so far i have been finding interesting free model scripts and saving them on a microsoft word file so hopefully eventually i can go "hmm....i need a script to make rain I will look at my word document" and find a script i can tinker with to be perfect
I also mess around with scripts to see the outcome
but I want to learn the language so I can easily just go "hm...i think i will make a jump scare gui...easy"
how did you guys learn? |

I have a copypasta for people like you, modified a bit for roblox c:
If you know next to nothing about programming:
go to your local library and find a book about beginner programming, or anything that will get you to understand the logic required to code. I got myself "Teach yourself beginner programming in 24 hours", Honestly, I didn't read it all the way through :p
Anyway, after you familiarized yourself with how computers work, time to switch gears into roblox's lua. I found these two books (Roblox basic lua programming and roblox intermidiate lua programming on amazon) to be very helpful. Both I read and enjoyed. After reading these I worked on small models for practice [^see ^them ^here](http://www.roblox.com/small-scripting-projects-place?id=29656582) I also browsed the scripting helpers section and tried to help people out there, if I found something I didn't quite understand, I went to google and simply googled what I wanted to know (example: Roblox Remote Functions) and went to the wiki page.
After I knew a broader variety of scripting concepts, I made a [small game](http://www.roblox.com/The-limit-of-speed-place?id=62121048), as I learned, I started working on a more complex one, and I still haven't finished it yet :p
Welp, the journey is long, but it certainly won't feel long. If you have questions, feel free to pm me here on reddit or on roblox. because iirc the books had some bugs in the code, so I'll help out and explain what was wrong with it, anyway, good luck |
