Nu-Metal has been sweeping the nation since the mid 90's. Since its allegedly "making a comeback" (which wont happen, just saying) lets take time to reflect on the epicness which was Nu-Metal.
Number Ten: Eveanescence-Bring Me To Life: This song begins our countdown with the 'first lady of Nu-Metal' Amy Lee. This song is known for its alleged Christian undertones and powerful vocals. It is Evanescence's most popular song, and still remains popular to this day.
Number Nine: Limp Bizkit-Break Stuff: Known for its aggresive lyrics, 'Break Stuff' holds a firm handing on our list. Limp Bizkit was one of the founding fathers of Nu-Metal, and made it extremely popular on the East Coast. So for all you Nu-Metal haters, I pack a chainsaw. I'll skin yo ... raw.
Number Eight: Drowning Pool-Bodies: One of Nu-Metals most popular anthems, 'Bodies' holds extreme significance in modern culture. Also known for its gritty and aggresive content, it was the themesong for ECW for quite a long time. Its also the bands most popular track, to this day. Its also worth headbanging too.
Number Seven: System Of A Down-Chop Suey: 'Chop Suey' is one of System Of A Downs early works. It tells a story of a man drawn to suicide out of fear that God hates him. Pretty serious right? Known for its controversial meaning, aggresive guitar and long and slow periods, its guaranteed a spot on this list.
Number Six: Korn-Blind: Literally the inventor of Nu-Metal, Korn earns number Six on our countdown to the top. Known for its intense vocals by Jonathan Davis, Korn deserves a spot on this list. I can see, I can see I'm going blind, by all this talent. KoRn is also one of the few Nu-Metal bands to never fully switch to another genre.
Number Five: Staind-It's Been A While: Becoming the mediator on our list of Nu-Metal songs, "It's Been A While" is one of Staind's most popular song. Due to this songs relateable meaning about relationships, it serves as a popular choice for Nu-Metal listeners.
Number Four: P.O.D-Youth Of The Nation: 'Youth Of The Nation" comes at Number Four on our infamous countdown of Nu-Metal bands. This song desribes a true story of a school shooting. Oddly though, it was right next to their recording studio when they were debating on what song to write. It tells the story of 3 kids on the tragic events in their lives. It also relates to similar issues that kids today experience in their day-to-day lives. That is why it deserves a number four spot.
Number Three: Disturbed-Down With The Sickness: We all know this was coming! This probably serves as the 'national anthem' of Nu-Metal rockers. Known for its unforgetable sound, and instantly recognizable lyrics, it serves as a guranteed spot on this list. This was also Disturbs breakthrough song from their debut album.
Number Two: Slipknot-Before I Forget: Arguably one of Nu-Metals most successful bands, Slipknot heirs as Number Two on this list. Known for their delightfully demonic masks and extremely harsh sounds, this song is guaranteed a well deserved placement on this list. All it was missing was a solo! Well...then it wouldn't be nu-metal if it had one...
Number One: Linkin Park-Numb: Well, I'm pretty sure we all expected this. Linkin Park is the most famous and succssful Nu-Metal bands of all time. They were even granted 'The Greatest Band of the 00's'. Numb is known for its relateable topic of 'becoming numb' to criticisms and judgement about what to do with your life. Its arguably one of the best Linkin Park songs of all time, and fully deserves the number one pick of the top Nu-Metal Songs.
Did I miss anything? Flame about it in the comments below. |

Trust me, I debated. I couldn't decide between Blind, Freak On A Leash and Falling Away From Me. Coming undone is boss though. It will be an option one day.

Let me guess, Linkin Park? You can't be a fan of the genre if you only like one band. Its a package deal bro.

There really aren't many nu metal bands. People confuse Alternative-Metal as Nu-Metal. So the bands you're thinking of (i.e. Rage Against The Machine, Godsmack, Breaking Benjamin, etc) aren't Nu-Metal.

The only genres for rock in the Christian scene are Christian Contemporary or Christian Rap-Metal. P.O.D invented Christian Rap-Metal, but only select Christian stations play it. Due to P.O.D being a mainstream band, not many Christian radios lean to them. Christian Contemporary is for bands like Skillet and Switchfoot. Both are commercially succesful in both markets, but Skillet isn't played often on Christian radios. Though you can see Skillet appear at concerts like Winter Jam, because Switchfoot invites them. Its kind of weird because Skillet appears at larger Christian Music concerts, yet not alot of Christian stations play them.
