So, recently there was a death in the family...
The person who died had a violin, and me, my mom, and my aunt were going to give it to my brother, who is a musician.
Until my aunt found out it was worth about 2,000$.
Now, suddenly she wants to keep it, when she is rich, doesn't even play it, and has no children!
What should I do OT?

She is being completely selfish! She doesn't even play it, and my brother has been playing for 11 years, and it in advanced music classes at college.

He taught himself to play.

I dont see why this is even a problem, it is only a $2,000 violin. Price =/= Quality. What is wrong with his current violin?

Don't sell it
Give it to your brother, If he manages to be a good musician, he'll get paid (am I right?)

@Ogre
It was his great grandfathers.
It is very good, and he is the only musician in the family also.
My aunt doesn't play, is rich, and has no children, yet she still wants it.

Really, my brother is REALLY GOOD.
He has been playing since he was 11, he is 24 now. (We have different dads, explains the age difference.)
It was kinda funny, he tells my mom "I want to be a guitar player!"
My mom "Sure whatever."
At first, he was so bad my mom made him sit on the front porch and play it.
Around 14, my mom realized he had talent.

your brother does not automatically deserve it just because he plays that instrument if he plays violin it's likely he has one already, why would he want another one just because it's worth a lot

@Clay If you aunt wants it, she has the same liberties as your brother. There is nothing saying that just because she cant play doesn't mean she cant have a family heirloom(?).
