1. Introduction 2. Explanation of powers and how they came about 3. Explanation of Centauri 4. Rules 5. CS
---------------------
1. Intro
Fear can do many, many, things. irrational, uncontrolled fear is dangerous alone, but when it is fear of something it can drive anyone to drastic measures.
In June of 2007 mutants became known to the world, and as the shock faded it was replaced by fear. Those with powers were feared, hated, insulted, and killed without reason. Slowly the mutants became angry, striking back against those who harmed them, and only adding to the original problem, fear.
As time went on humanity began talking of eradication, removing the mutant threat. It was then that Centauri came to power, an organization hiding behind the plot of protection from "The Mutant Menace", though their true goal was world domination. And they succeeded partially in their goals.
Though they now rule the world in a sense, they have yet to remove the mutants, who have banded together mostly in places to combat Centauri, fighting for their own existence.
---------------------
2- Explanation of powers and how they came about
Mutants powers derive from a mutated gene that is becoming more common within the ever-varying gene pool. It usually comes to fruition during puberty, their powers developing over time. The powers can come in subtly or erratically based on the level of power the mutant holds.
Powers can greatly vary depending on the combination of genetic coding. Mutants with two parents holding the gene will have a higher power level than those with only one. And those with neither parents holding the gene will have a drastically lowered power level.
---------------------
3- Explanation of Centauri
Following the reveal of mutant life to the world, and the subsequent societal backlash, a group of opportunists came together to form the corporation known as 'Centauri'. Centauri claimed that, within a few years, they would have a cure for "the mutant aberration". Much of Centauri's work was done behind closed doors and in secret, out of the public eye. The corporation had strict security measures that seemed to near the "private army" status. Despite a few people across the globe wanting to know exactly what the Centauri Corporation was doing, they were the minority.
Thus, research continued unhindered.
Centauri's clandestine research continued for a few years until, one day, they unveiled the fruit of their labors:
The Centurions.
Centurions were a highly advanced robotic AI system, designed for the ground up to wage war against the mutants. The AI would first scan the genetic coding of a suspected mutant. Then, if the AI discovered an active aberration, it would then examine it. The examination process told the AI exactly what it did and, inversely, its direct weakness. Upon finishing the examination process, the AI would eliminate the mutant.
With extreme prejudice.
This process took place a little over the time it takes for the average human to blink their eye. The trial runs for the Centurion were extremely successful, so the US government [along with most other world governments/superpowers of the time] began buying massive numbers of Centurions. Within a short time there was a Centurion on every street. Even if you were not a mutant, it seemed like you were under constant surveillance/occupation.
At the time, the trained eye might have noticed the Centauri Corporation's advancements upon the government. As years passed, the corporation began latching on to more and more parts of the government, almost like a parasite or [what would prove to be terminal] cancer, and began spreading. After a while, it seemed less the government being in control of Centauri Corporation and more Centauri Corporation being in charge of the government.
More time passed.
After several decades, Centauri Corporation had full control of the entire world. There were still democratic elections in most countries, but the candidates were usually picked by Centauri Corp. and would only promote Centaurian interests. It was now fairly obvious to most that Centauri Corp. had effectively made the world into a "One-World Government". However, no one would dare oppose Centauri's massive private army. Various human-mutant rights groups regularly stages protests in front of Centauri's HQ. Just as regularly, Centauri Security, known by the public as "the Hammer" [due entirely to the quote by Abraham Maslow's enduring quote: "To a hammer, everything else looks like a nail."], brought the hammer down on such demonstrations. It did not take long before all such protests ceased.
More years passed.
Since it was obvious that Centauri Corp. had complete control over the globe, it came as no surprise when the massive corporation declared itself the "Leader[s] of the World". However, that did not stop people from making attempts to revolt against Centauri. Once again, the Hammers came in, did their thing, and the revolts were crushed.
Now with most of its opposers dead or in Centauri Corp.-run prisons for extremely long sentences. Centauri Corp only had it's loyal supporters [or the opposers smart enough to keep their mouths shut] within the public body. Since the "Ungratefuls", as they were known, were now a small threat to their power base, they turned their full attention back to the original issue.
The Mutants, the Aberrations, the Freaks, the Unholy, whatever the public chose to call them, that is what the REAL issue was.
So, Centauri Corp announced that they were taking an even harsher stand against the mutants. "Opening a new front" and "Bringing this war within measurable distance of its end" were the two key phrases used by the Centaui Corp representatives [or politicians, choose your poison]. They did not lie.
Within hours of the announcement, Centauri Corp unveiled the Centurion V.2 AI [which had apparently been in the works since Centurion V1]. They also began pumping out an updated version of the original Centurion robotics system. This time, the robot was much more resilient and "smarter" about the way it did things. This, along with various weapons upgrades, made the Centurion virtually unstoppable in large numbers.
"Good for us, bad for them." was the phrase that Centauri Corp seemed to enjoy using.
Soldiers
Despite the fact that Centurions are expert killing machines, they often times still need some human help to keep the river of blood a'flowin'. This is when Centauri Corp's Special Operations Elimination & Retrieval come in. Like the Centurions themselves, they too have seen a massive weapons upgrade. The durability of each soldier varies, but they are all heavily padded with various types of body armor/bulletproof vests. They all carry an extensive array of weaponry, which they use to great effect on mutant [and the occasional riotous Ungrateful, it happens] life.
Units
Lampposts - This type of soldier is essentially street-corner guard [hence the nickname lamppost]. They are usually found in ones and twos. They are basically a pushover, as they are usually put in that position due to their ability to be able to fail horribly at everything else. However, this is not always the case. You may occasionally encounter some crack-shot who is simply trying to move up the ranks. Lucky for him, killing a group of Aberrations is the best way to achieve that goal. Which is bad for you. Notwithstanding, Lampposts can call in to report an Aberration, at which point you have an even bigger issue on your hands.
Grunts - This is basically the cannon fodder of the Special Operations Elimination & Retrieval Division. Normally the new recruits. They are usually encountered in large numbers. They might not be exactly skilled [due mostly to the fact that most are 19-21 year olds eager to legally raise hell], they are a nightmare if encountered in overwhelming numbers. There is a reason why the small ant can kill things several hundred times its size. There are just too many for one thing to handle. Thus, it is best to steer clear of large numbers of them. They also commonly are the ones backing up a Centurion, tho they are rarely ever necessary.
Elites - This group of soldiers are the beginning of soldiers you must avoid at all costs if you want to keep your bodily processing in the correct working order. If you do not, you will soon meet the devastating weaponry and brutal efficiency this group of soldiers has to offer. These soldiers are referred to, by the public, as the Hammer. In this case, if they see you, you are the Nail.
Grim Reapers - These soldiers are essentially the Elitist of the Elite. It is a proven fact that if you encounter this level of soldier, you are guaranteed to die almost 95 percent of the time. Hence their nickname, Grim Reapers. They have actually seemed to embrace their nickname, deciding to place a skull logo somewhere on their body armor [typically the shoulderpads]. They have weaponry designed to eliminate just about anything within one or two shots. So it would not be best to try and engage one of these.
Weaponry
Centauri outfits it's units with a variety of weaponry, though most of it is powered by fuel cells, shooting gauss rounds, incredibly fast and incredibly lethal. The sizes vary, but it is quite obvious that the bigger the gun the higher the lethality. Each unit is issued such gun, but only the heavier aramnant is used for the higher up units.
Centurions
Centurions are robotic AI soldiers, standing at nearly twice the size of a human. They are quite durable to conventional weaponry and many low level mutants powers, though against a higher level mutant they will use swarm tactics to defeat it.

4-Rules 1. Be a decent role-player; Have decent grammar, role-play well, and it would be appreciated if you made at least 2-3 sentences per post, but you don't have to. 2. Ignore ALL kinds of trolling or flame, as responding to them will only feed them and encourage them to troll/flame even more. 3. Trolling, spamming, or flaming this thread might automatically get you kicked or banned. No exceptions. 4. Yes characters die. I'm not planning on many, but there is always a possibility. 5. Put at least a little effort into your CS, we don't want non-detailed characters who have no personality. 6. Do not start RPing without being accepted by the admins. 7. Admins can add more rules if necessary, no arguing 8. No Godmodding, Overpowering, Metagaming, or Power-playing. 9. Engage in romance and cussing at your own risk. If not our fault if you get banned. 10: Power level should match your parental situation, which should be described in the bio. 11. Only the most trusted will get high level powers. 12: Power level dictates the control over your desired power. Like a power level of 1-2 of Electrokinesis will allow the user to give a slight shock to people.

It's also why it can't be reported. Filter reads it as that, with squares, so it never gets me for it.

@Soardlo
This heavily reminds me of Outcasts, my first roleplay some time back in 2011. The Outcasts had powers and were hunted by robots called Hunters which were created by The Blades, a group also wanting to kill all the outcasts.
not saying you copied btw |
