The ability to make anyone's place multiplayer is a still a little ways off - in the meantime, I was wondering if anyone was interested in making a Brick Battle level for multiplayer. I think it would be cool to have 3-5 really good maps that we could rotate to keep things fresh. I have also noticed a good number of people now who are competent enough with Roblox Studio to possibly make a Brick Battle level.
If you are interested in making a Brick Battle level, here are some guidelines to follow:
* We shoot to keep Brick Battle levels under 2000 parts. You can see the number of parts your level is using in Studio if you go to "View->Report", expand the "Workspace->World" nodes and check the "Primitives" count. This is the number of pieces you are using.
* We also like to keep the number of transparent blocks in a level low. Transparent blocks slow down old graphics hardware and we want everyone to be able to play the Brick Battle game.
* We like to keep the level destructible. In practice this means make your terrain out of big, indestructible parts and your buildings out of smaller parts that look cool when your buildings are hit with the rocket launcher.
* Make it cool - maps with lots of flat empty space are not fun. Start with a smaller baseplate if you want a smaller project. Chaos Canyon is only 300x300. It's probably possible to make an interesting area map even smaller than that.
If you have something that you think is ready, post here and I'll take a look at it. If it seems like a fun map, I'll help clean it up (add regeneration scripts, weapons, and make sure all the terrain is anchored, ect - there's a lot that goes into an arena map), and we'll put it online! |
