Your HD probably corrupted.
That's what happened to my old PC.
Just rip out the HD and replace it and it should work again. |

@Road CIH is not compatible with Microsoft NT related systems, so it is obsolete, if he's using a vista, windows 7 or 8.
You should go get that checked out... |

Are you sure nothing edited the System 32 folder in your computer? Like viruses, malware or something?

| Also, if it were System32, the computer wouldn't boot at all. It gets to the point where Winderps is actually supposed to start, but it BSoDs on me at the "Starting Windows" screen. |

If it could boot, then it didn't rewrite the BIOS. [ Basic Input Output System ] Before you get to the 'Windows Starting' screen, try to go into safe mode by pressing F8 when it boots.
You should go get that checked out... |

oh thank god safe mode worked INFO: i did a fresh reinstall at some point, installed updates, so either one update might've messed up my computer, or it's something completely unrelated |
