Today somebody stopped me an told me I should be a model. Tbh, it isn't the first time it's happened and it sounds like something interesting to look into. Should I:
a) forget it m8 b) Look into signing on at an agency (easier to get jobs but less income, you also have someone to back you up in an emergency) c) Start building a freelance portfolio (keep 100% of profits but have to find jobs yourself)

I'm thinking B I guess,unless you're not interested in the job,then A. I'm assuming you are interested though. |

I'd say forget it m8
Unless that's a career YOU want to pursue, and that's your dream, don't bother.
Stick to what you want to do, not what people think you should do |

I would say B is the best option though, unless you like taking a bit more time to get more money, then c.But I would say B is the better option overall.
And I'll ask this again,do you want to do this career? If you don't,you probably won't like in rest of it either. |

Okay, so I have two friends that actually work as models. One of them is my year (a senior), and the other is a Junior. Neither of them likes it spread around that they do that sort of work because of the stereotypes that go along with it. Honestly, they don't fall into any of the stereotypes except that they are stunningly good looking. One loves video games and all things nerdy (which is awesome), and the other is into dirt biking and is sort of tom boyish in personality.
Anyhow, both of them work for an agency. The cut on income doesn't matter too much to them because they still make way more money then most people do at their age. One photo shoot usually brings in anywhere from $200 to $500. They have found it pretty easy to balance work with school as it usually doesn't require a lot of time devotion over the week for them. It isn't steady, of course as sometimes they have a job and others they don't. The one that likes dirt biking is getting out of it because the agency she works for doesn't appreciate having to deal with some of the bruises she gets from dirt biking. So, consider if you have any activity you love doing how it might be impacted by taking up modeling. Neither of my friends like how much make up is typically used in a photo shoot.
If you have any questions, let me know. I'll be as helpful as I can. |
