"Tower, wake."

You wake up in the boy's dormitory of the 113 Retribution. The place feels like a box for a painting, not tall, but certainly spacious. A giant, metallic painting box, who'd a thought? The gels in your mattress make way for you as you slip out of it. Wenzel, a fellow soldier from the 113, looks at you, her stare not doing a good job of hiding the UHC lapdog in her. It surprisingly (Not really) also makes her look a bit strict.

"At attention, Tower. Staff Sergeant Hendricks has announced that we'll be at the wreckage in a few minutes. He has asked that you grab your weapons from the locker on the other side of the room, and rendezvous with the rest of the squad in the hangar, where you'll receive your space suit."

With that she walks off, leaving the only item of attention the locker she had referred to.

(You don't pick your weapons for the missions. Once you get a mission, the UHC will authorize the use of certain weapons for that mission. Your weapons will be found in lockers.)

((So no Spas-12? Meh, I don't care))

I head to the locker and try to open it.

Inside the locker you find a 10-β Magcardio Furious Ship-Side pistol, a 2-θ Magcardio Brotherhood Ship-Side rifle, a M32 New French laser cannon with seven batteries, and three grenades.

(Gun Info)
10-β Magcardio Furious Ship-Side - The Furious from Magcardio Industries has a near perfect balance of fire rate and power, with a decent if not great reload time. It's often called the "Younger Brother" of the 2-θ Magcardio Brotherhood Ship-Side rifle as the guns are similar, but the Furious is newer and weaker. This makes it a way to save up on ammo for the Brotherhood.

2-θ Magcardio Brotherhood Ship-Side - The Brotherhood from Magcardio Industries has a near perfect balance of fire rate and power, with a decent if not great reload time. It's often called the "Elder Brother" of the 10-β Magcardio Furious Ship-Side pistol as it's an older weapon, and the fact that the Brotherhood is more powerful. This is often used in ship-side combat.

M23 New French Laser Cannon - The M23 is the most advanced laser cannon that the UHC can get it's hands on, due to the stubborn attitude of the New French Trinity. The M23 has about two and a half minutes of battery life, with the M23's batteries weighing about one and a half pounds each, meaning most members of the UHC's weapons squads only carry about ten spares at the most. It is heavy, but the pros outweigh (Get the pun?) the cons. Laser cannons can easily penetrate heavily armored droids and vehicles.

Grenades: Grenades are made by a secret military company in the UHC. These things are heavily classified and the numbers given to a soldier is heavily moderated.

(Extra Info)

Magcardio Industries - The difference between a ship-side and a planet-side gun is the fact that ship-side gun bullets are more heavy, more powerful, and more ineffective out of zero grav environments. Most gun industry companies, therefore, prefer to specialize in both. However, Magcardio Industries from the colony of Gleipnir has established it's specialty in solely ship-side weapons, making it the most advanced in ship-side weaponry. Magcardio has a near perfect monopoly on the ship-side weapons used in the UHC military, the only gun not being used in it being Zyntax Weapons Incorporated's own Waster ship-side SMG.

The New French Company - The New French Company is the leading trade organization of the New French Trinity, an alliance of three freelance colonies lead by the government and colony of New France, a colony with ideals similar to the UHC but with a heavy french influence. The colony of New France is rich with unique crystals, which were perfect for a boom in laser based technology. The New French Company has the most advanced tech in that field, even rivaling the Irridaar Empire. They save the best for themselves, however, and sell the UHC, their most important clients, the weaker models. Discussions between the Trinity and the UHC have opened to fix this.

I take it I can't take them all.

Try to take everything except the big French gun gimmick.

No, you can. You're not in your military armor yet. While it is true about weight, the UHC has carefully checked the balance of the weapons you're assigned. Armor also has changeable holsters to give you space for your hands, and the wires they put in it give the boost of strength one needs for it to not slow them down. Also to counter space, guns and grenade from UHC companies such as Magcardio also collapse into themselves. Like a light saber. But with no laser.

However, you may have a hard time carrying them to the hangar.

Very well then...

You leave the dormitory to find yourself in the most lovely of sights. UHC platoon transport ships have a woman's and man's dormitory, a cockpit, a hanger, and finally the lobby, where all four are accessible. The lobby's walls are screens showing a complex image from video feed around the 113 Retribution's cameras placed on the ship's armor, making it look like a catwalk moving in space. There are circular platforms with dining tables on it, so the soldiers and crew can eat rations, and relax in an attempt to shake off some tense nerves from conflicts. In front of you in a straight path is the woman's dormitory, not your destination, and to your left that cockpit, also not your destination. To your right and past the tables is the door to the hangar, seeming to be surrounded by space.

Inside the hangar are six soldiers waiting for their missing two, you and Wenzel. Each soldier is wearing standard UHC space armor, a bunch of modumetal plates with flexible suits made of wires. They're filled to the brim with electronics, and cover the face of the soldiers in a black glass shield.

Staff Sergeant Hendricks walks in front of these six, his shield off so all can see his face. He's probably waiting to brief you and Wenzel. He won't ask questions, as your experience with him states. He'll just want you to go and get your suit on. To the right side of the hangar is your space armor.

You see a helmet and modumetal plates. As you put on the helmet, wires spring from it's base and cover your body. You put on the plates afterwards, and then activate the helmet, watching as the black glass covers your face, before the cameras provide a clear vision of what's in front of you and words pop up.

[Greetings, User: TOWER.]
[Activating Systems.]
[Systems Activated. Creating holsters.]

Small cube like machines come out of the base of the helm, and form a holster for your pistol at your side, one for the laser cannon you ditched, with a second underneath the laser cannon one for your rifle.

-You have equipped the UHC military space suit-
-Abilities Gained-

Magnet Feet: The suit is designed to release magnetic energy at the boots at the whim of the user to allow for walking on the side of space ships in zero grav environments. Using these will take up the suit's battery charge and quicken the pace it could overheat.

Space Sight: The suit can turn space to appear as a deep dark blue. This will enhance your sight by allowing you to see the outlines of objects in space. However, you only see their outlines. The darkness in space is still there. Unless it's illuminated by the nearby star, you'll need to use a flash-light to see dark areas. Using this will take up the suit's battery charge and quicken the pace it could overheat.

Com Chat: The suit is equipped with it's own radio. Sergeants and above have their suits broadcast their own secure channel for squads and platoons.

Modumetal Plates: The suit uses plates of modumetal, which can help protect your suit from being torn by gun fire and spacing you.

Overheat: The suit builds up heat over continuous use. Once it has too much, it can over heat, and space you. Without any of the additional features online, you have about a whole 12 hours before that happens. This is why it's recommended that systems like space sight and magnet feet be off when they're not needed.

Battery Life: The suit has battery life. This is not much of a concern, unless your suit's systems are on 24/7, or you forget to replace and recharge the batteries.

Good, good.

Is there a chance I could get the laser gun to fit in the holster at one point later?

Yes. There is the holster for the laser cannon right now. The UHC sends signals of the expected weapons for use on the mission and the nano-bots who form the holsters design themselves for the full list.

You also put on your grenade belt. Don't want to lose those three beauts, now do we?

"Tower!" Hendricks calls out to you. He's either really anxious to start the mission, or really mad you didn't take the laser cannon. The UHC cannot stress enough the point that when they assign your weapons, they're not asking you to bring them, but demanding.

"If you were going to drop one of your weapons, which you shouldn't as it's illegal according to UHC Military Law Line 325 "If the UHC assigns weapons to a soldier, those weapons were considered what they needed, nothing less, and doing so results in one strike", I'd prefer it'd been the rifle. Otherwise we would never had taken a weapons squad member with us. Doing it now was a precaution, and I'd rather have said precaution in a field in he is adeptly trained in."

Extra Information!

Strikes: The UHC assigns "strikes" for insubordination amongst soldiers. Having strikes will not only prevent promotions but make you less likely to carry out key military missions. One can petition to have their strikes removed, but it requires the agreement of five superiors rank colonel or above, a price of 15,000 units for each mark, and a six month wait in which if one strike is gained, everything above is invalidated. One doesn't get veteran services if they have a strike on their record.

"Yes. It'd be very much appreciated if the 113 didn't break military law because of you."
