I'm quite into the fantasy and sci-fi genres, any subgenre is fine by me. Please don't give me anything too mainstream (i.e. Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Artemis Fowl, etc.) as I am likely to have read them already.

I liked No Safety In Numbers, it's about an entire shopping mall getting quarantined.

Read the Maze Runner series. There's 3 books, sorta short. Really interesting.

And the first movie comes out later this month, so that would be a plus if you go watch it. (:

Septimus Heap:

So there's this 7th son of a 7th son who is supposedly stillborn. However, the midwife lied, and septimus was brought up as Boy 412 of the boy army.
His dad one day finds an abandoned baby and names her Jenna. They later discover that she's the daughter of the recently killed Queen and ExtraOrdinary Wizard.

After Septimus is back with the family, he's apprenticed to the current ExtraOrdinary Wizard, called Marcia Overstrand, who has a big head and a hot temper and likes pointy purple shoes.

There are things called Things which ate like really stupid zombies, a guy who mows the lawn with lizards and collects dragon crap, an aunt who makes cabbage sandwiches, charms that turn anything into chocolate, an alchemist over 500 years old, a time travel machine, a boggart, a boat that used to be a dragon, and quite a bit of stupidity.

It's meant for children but me and some of my friends still find it just as entertaining.

At first it sounded... Out-of-the-ordinary, to say the least, but at least slightly interesting. By the second-to-last paragraph I began to lose faith in it, and when you pointed out that it was a kid's book, I completely decided against reading it.

@Tim, it's actually a really neat series. I read it a while ago and it was a favorite of mine for a long time.

I'd recommend Dragon Run.
The beginning seems a little already-done but I do remember that it was a fantastic book.

The premise is that at a certain age every child is marked with a number on the back of their neck, signifying what their rank in the community is (sounding a little Giver-esque, I know). Children generally are the same as their parents, but with private tutors they can try to get a better rank. (1 being the highest and 4 being the lowest, I believe.)

I'd rather not spoil it for you though so I'll leave it at that.

The other one I'd recommend is The Eighth Day. I posted a short synopsis on that other guy's forum: http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=143955840

Okay, sorry. I have one more because I just remembered the title of it. Time Snatchers:
The idea of the book is that theres this man whom everyone calls Uncle that sends orphans that he's adopted into the past to steal valuable items in history and then sell the items to wealthy buyers.

There's a sequel too but I haven't read it yet.

It's got kind of an Eoin Colfer-esque feel but it's loads better than W.A.R.P. and I'd definitely recommend it.

If you wanna fill your brain with interesting things, try reading books about autism. If you're not interested about, then I would recommend "Made in Japan" by Valérie Moore... I don't know if it's translated in english, but I've read it in french. Pretty interesting, there's a lot of sci-fi inside.

TopTurtle, kid's books give people brain-damage. When was the last time you read "Captain Underpants"?

A Song of Ice and Fire.

It's quite mature, but it's an amazing read.

Or, you could try 1984 or Brave New World, they're classics. Or, if you want something less dark and more zany, you can try Jennifer Government.

Phoniex, I'm okay with dark, to an extent. I tried reading Song of Ice and Fire, but it gave me freaking nightmares. No exaggeration. I've read 1984 as well, and I'll look at Brave New Word.

Warofgods, synopsises, please?
