Frankly, I don't support straight pride (I'm heteroromantic, by the way) because being straight is already a norm and heterose.xual people (as a whole, not all of course) are oppressors of those who LGBTQA+ meaning they are privileged and do not need awareness or support.

@GoshiDoll:

How am I oppressing anyone?

And, to be clear, I am interested in why you think I'm an oppressor because I couldn't find anything that I said to be oppressing and I do try my hardest to recognize if I've stated something that could be considered as such

I thought it was obvious I was joking, but whatever.

tbh I agree with your post 100%

Okay, so I think it is fine to be proud of who you are, no matter which way you spin (straight, lgbt, etc...). What I don't get is getting upset or in a fit (blatant or not) that lgbt pride is a thing while straight pride isn't.

Straight people don't get discriminated against, that is why there is no need for a movement.

I support a lot! I am straight, too, by the way.

If the same gender cannot mate, then I am pretty sure they shouldn't date.

I like that saying

So Rolf, what of the notion of freedom?

I don't really want to get into this, however I am interested in hearing your side.

People can do whatever they want, but I really feel like people were NOT meant to date the same gender. It seems like people are just ignoring the signs because they live in the US and love the freedom. (Nothing against freedom, it's just this is what happens)

"If the same gender cannot mate, then I am pretty sure they shouldn't date."

That's flawed.

There's infertile couples who can't reproduce, there's people who decided they don't want to have children, and then there's the elderly who can't reproduce anymore since they're up in age.

A relationship shouldn't be revolved around children anyway. The whole point of a modern relationship is having a partner to love.

Rolf,
Haha, and would you say man was "meant" to walk on the moon? We certainly couldn't attain such a feat by any means given nature, yet we defied what was "meant to be" and went for it. Perhaps, though, that analogy is too much of a stretch for you. So, let me ask you this question: how can you know any absolute truth of what is meant to be? I can't. I'm not omniscient or anything of the sort. In lieu of that, I figure why not live and let live? Does people of the same gender impact your life? No? I didn't think so. So why can't they just be who they are?
