Instead of watching some garbage TV show like My Little Pony, try sitting down and appreciating some of the world's culture.
Has anyone on this subforum even read books like Ulysses, or even Great Expectations? |

I haven't read any of the books you mentioned. But yesterday I finally finished a picture book about camels. It's tough because it's nonfiction. |

| I had to read Great Expectations during my first year of high school. I was one of the few people who didn't fall asleep in class while reading it because it was actually quite enjoyable. |

@Sea
Mageofpower is a good guy, unless you're talking about another mage, in which case I say whatever.

Oh, hello Altair. Thought you had long packed your bags and left.
But no matter, speaking on topic are you really surprised? This is a website for children. You are not the majority, and attempting to force people to read the "fine art" you enjoy, people clearly much too young to truly appreciate it is ridiculous. |

| So why is that paintings and drawings, written stories and music are all high art, but when you try to combine them you get low art? |

"but when you try to combine them you get low art?"
Because that is an artist trying to be 'jack of all trades' and inevitably failing. They can not master music, or painting, or writing so they attempt to do all three at a mediocre level. This is why good movies, television, etc. require excellent cinematography and writing to even compete with higher art. |

What I read the title the title as: "Anyone who doesn't like my kind of fine art has poor tastes"
People watch/read what they like, and so do you. It's people like you who ruin this subforum. |

Ulysses is just an epic about an adulterer, a murderer, and a fiend. Honestly, I'm glad we don't discuss it. |

If we wish to discuss real works, let's discuss the ending of "Lord of the Flies," Or the meaning behind Citizen Kane Or the racism and the flaws of the US judicial system in "12 Angry Men," or "To Kill a Mocking Bird." Or what defines a god in "The Last Question." Or perhaps, let's discuss brutality, and the meaning of change from, "Death Race 2000's," ending. Or the flaws of a growing population in, "soylent green." |

I appreciate it because most if not all of it is a satire, not because of the book's content at face value |

But a movie is very much a team effort, no one person is doing much of anything but what they're really good at. Script writers who are really good at writing scripts write and usually nothing else, musicians create music to fit scenes made by the script writers and so on.
It's not one person trying to be a Jack of all trades but master of none. When done right, the quality of the final production shouldn't be diluted at all. |
