"Pooladi was named as the second best-ranked player in the first week of the tournament behind Thomas Müller by FIFA, after receiving 9.7 points in match against Nigeria.[8] He also showed a good performance in next match, against Argentina. At the end of the tournament's group stages, Pooladi was among 30th top players in the 2014 FIFA World Cup."
The 30th best isn't truthful (was probably Iranian fan bias) but he was easily one of the top 50-75 players in Brazil (not by skill, but by work-rate, effort, and the actual performance he put up) and was probably the 3rd/4th best LB in the tournament.
He was rated #2 in the Castrol Index or whatever after the match against Nigeria, without him, Iran would've lost 2-0 to freaking Nigeria...
I would've rather him stayed in Iran than go to the freaking Qatari league where it's so dirty/rough and he'll ruin his career... |

@vikings Most of the Iranian players, especially the ones on the World Cup squad, the past few weeks have been accepting offers from Arab teams (especially in Qatar) because they get fat paychecks and live with no taxes. Literally 9/10 of them are good enough to play in Greece or Ukraine or the second division in England, all as starter.
I'm hoping the youngsters for Iran don't take the stupid path just for money playing in a place with significantly less playing skill overall. Like Azmoun (currently in Russia), Jahanbakhsh (currently in Netherlands and has an offer from Heerenveen too), and Ezzatollahi (just joined Atletico Madrid's B-side, at age 17). |

| It's actually a big deal. Iranian Football is still developing, and going to the Qatari League is an AWFUL move for your own career, and your international career. He could easily go to a decent team in Europe. |
