The Phantom Time Hypothesis
1986: German historian Heribert Illing starts developing a theory that says we really live in the year 1717.
1582: Pope Gregory XIII created the calendar we use today when he orded the jullian calendar to be corrected because since its creation in 46 B.C. It fell behind and 'Lost' nearly one day each century. When Gregory corrected the calendar, he should have added 13 days, but he only corrected 10 days. therefore, Illing says the pope knew three centuries of history never happened. a he didn't include the additional 3 days. Illing points to the scarce archaeological or written evidence for the dark ages. and says it is all a fictional history created by holy roman emperors. Illing and his supporters argue that dat1ng techniques are unreliable. and dendrochronological and radio metrical results may be faked. Historians argue that astronomical events like eclipses and halley comet. can be accurately dated to the same time that medieval records mention them. furthermore, detailed records from china synchronize with european events. they say the gregorian calendar only corrected itself by 10 days because the pope wanted to match the date of easter with the official date agreed for them at the council of nigaea in A.D. 325. however, even critics admit that the phantom time hypothesis cannot be definitively disproven...
