they still factor into the rankings
the reason they slipped is because costa rica, mexico, and croatia played friendlies, which was enough for them to boost past america |

that's not the reason the reason the United States fell is because the good results they had from the previous 2 years dropped off the system that calculates the rankings |

| the overall point being that little details here and there added up in the formula and the USA dropped three spots because of it |

which is fine cause i don't put much stock in the fifa rankings anyway the united states was too high in the first place |
