first order of business:
get rid of the DH
it's not ok to only be 50% of a baseball player
sorry american league fans, you're actually going to have to use strategy now! *gasp*

| Why would you want to risk your pitcher getting hit in an at bat in like the 3rd inning? |

like having a pitcher hit is worth while?
NL pitchers hitting are averaging around .150 or lower Batting Averages alone
so why bother, it isn't like they need to hit as part of their job, your role as a MLB pitcher in the modern era is to just pitch, it's pretty much a given your a gonna get out if yout pitch and your in the line up no one expects you to do anything at the plate, so how is that strategy? |

| Isn't the pitchers job in the NL to just try and lay down a bunt and advance a runner if there is one? |

the Pinch hitters that sub for all NL pitchers are 50% of a baseball player
so your logic is flawed cheesey |

like having pitchers play 100% of baseball is worth while?
yes
>NL pitchers hitting are averaging around .150 or lower Batting Averages alone
so that means they get a hit 1.5 times out of 10
"so why bother, it isn't like they need to hit as part of their job, your role as a MLB pitcher in the modern era is to just pitch, it's pretty much a given your a gonna get out if yout pitch and your in the line up no one expects you to do anything at the plate, so how is that strategy?"
yes, they do need to hit as a part of their job (hence why they're baseball players)

a lot of the time, unfortunately yes
next order of business as commissioner:
ban bunting
it's dumb and never works
>the Pinch hitters that sub for all NL pitchers are 50% of a baseball player
except the pinch hitters don't bat 4 times a game and often play the field later in the game
most pinch hitters are bench players that start once or twice a week, so, unlike DHs, play the field
>so your logic is flawed cheesey
um nope

>like having a pitcher hit is worth while?
like having pitchers play 100% of baseball is worth while?
yes (worth while how they can't hit as good as your fielders its just a given out.)
>NL pitchers hitting are averaging around .150 or lower Batting Averages alone
so that means they get a hit 1.5 times out of 10 (1.5 hits of 10 is half the amount of hits needed to be consider a good hitter in the MLB, not to mention that's 1.5 Hits per 10 when on average your starting pitchers only hit maybe once or twice a game so really that's around .3 hits per game per starting pitcher alone in just one week.)
Because it's obvouis that Tim lincecum and Clayton Kershaw are getting paid millions for their hitting prowess.

No they can't. The NL batting average is a pitiful .249 (whereas the AL is a solid .254). Not a single pitcher is above that average.
But knowing the OBPhead that you are, the NL's OBP is .318 (whereas the AL is at a .320). Not a single pitcher is above that average.
Which means you are just sending a below average guy to the plate each time up,whereas you can be sending somebody like Nelson Cruz up to bat instead.
Who would you rather have bat for you right now Cheesey, Nelson Cruz or Clayton Kershaw?
Also DHs aren't 50% baseball player as most of them can also play 1st base when needed. It really is astounding how ignorant you are. |
