The wind blows through my hair and chills my skin and his eyes, two olives, look deep into me.
"It's nice out here," I say.
"Yeah, it is nice out here," he replies, now staring down at the dark green grass with a sulky face.
"So... did anything exciting happen at the beach today?"
"A dagger fell out of a tree and stabbed my hand."
"Are you serious?"
"Yeah," he raises his right hand, wrapped in bandages with blots of bright red.
I take in a deep breath.
"I have told you many times to take care of yourself, yet you insist on ignoring me, do you actually enjoy feeling pain or will it just not get through your head?"
"Sorry, I didn't want to leave without saying anything."
"If you leave for over a week, I'll be worried sick, if you leave for a few hours, I'll assume it was something important and will find something else to do alone, understand?"
"Yeah… I'll go to the hospital now, maybe a ther*pist too since I've been feeling depressed."
"You've been feeling depressed as well? Please stop beating yourself up for me."
"I will."
He staggers up onto his feet and runs past me, revealing the lifeless sky.
These clouds are hiding the vibrant sun, just like Daniel, his feelings are hiding who he is deep inside, but the sky always changes so maybe he will too.
"Hello?" I hear a voice say behind me.
I turn around to find a girl smiling with eyes, shining like emeralds, and hair bringing up a memory of eating cotton candy, in the middle of children laughing, colorful balloons being given out, and people walking into those tents full of excitement.
"Excuse me."
I snap out of it to be met by an awkward grin.
"I'm sorry, who are you?" I ask.
"My name is Lipinka, what's your name?"
"Mimette."
"Do you own this island?"
"I don't but the one closest to us does."
"Why is it not populated here?"
"Probably because there's only one place to stay inside and that's a cabin.
"I would build my own cabin to live here and see the beauty every single day."
"Beauty? What are you talking about?"
She points over to the forest full of oak trees, shedding several leaves of red, orange, and yellow.
"Oh… yeah… it is beautiful."
"I'm really interested in you so let's get to know each-other."
"Uh… okay…"
This is odd for a person to randomly appear and suddenly want to know more about me, going along with this wouldn't be so bad though.
"How did you get here?" I ask.
"I travel a lot and this place happened to be in the way of the direction I was going."
"How did you pop up behind me?"
"Just being quiet and sneaking around."
"Where were you sneaking around?"
"The forest, I hope what I assume is your friend is okay, that wound looked pretty bad."
Creepy for her to sneak around, but at least she has some compassion for Daniel.
"I feel guilty," she says.
"Why?"
"I'm the one that threw the dagger at the tree."
A few seconds of silence pass by.
"Why did you throw it?"
"I was angry and that was how I released some of my anger, I'm sorry, I'm so irresponsible for my feelings."
"Not all of it is your fault."
"How?"
"Most of it was a coincidence, I mean, my friend Daniel decided to lay right underneath it and nature swept it off the branch, you weren't responsible for those two things."
"I guess you're right."
"Now I have a very important question to ask you."
"What's that?"
"Daniel has been feeling depressed ever since that dagger stabbed him, I find it strange since he is usually never this way, and for it to be another coincidence I don't believe so does the dagger have anything in it that could've made him feel this way?"
"I've seen neon green liquid leak out of it so that could be why he's been feeling depressed."
"That doesn't sound right, at all."
"I think its poison."
"Poison? You mean he has poison inside his body?"
"Most likely, I don't know specifically what effects the poison can cause though."
Sweat starts dripping down my face.
This isn't good, wait…
The thought of him falling to the floor comes to mind.
He could be dead… oh my gosh why did this have to happen? But… maybe the poison only affects emotions… I hope it does.
"Are you okay?" she asks.
"Yeah… just a bit… worried…"
"Let's hope he's fine."
"Good idea… so… this dagger… I've never heard of anything like it, is that because it's rare?"
"Well it's a magic dagger and I'm pretty sure it's one of a kind."
"Magic? What does that mean?"
"Have you ever heard of magic before?"
"No."
"You must be part of a minor community."
"Minor?"
"You haven't heard of the names for the communities either?"
"No, am I supposed to know?"
"I would expect you to."
"Well I don't so can you explain them to me so I can go along with what you're talking about."
"There are three communities in the world. The largest being the magic community, the second largest being the technology community, and the rest are called minor communities because they don't contain any magic or technology in them, also there's a lot of them, which most of the time, are separate."
"Oh, I've never heard of these communities before."
"Do you want me to go into further detail?"
"Sure."
She takes a deep breath in.
"The technology community has advanced technology, pretty much building the future, however they are very secretive and no one knows how it actually runs inside, or even how it looks, yet a lot of people have an idea of what it's like, some even question their existence, even though the magic community's government-named the magic government-has said they exist and they have made several deals with them-which to me is a bit much to think they would actually lie since there's a lot of things that seem like a combination of magic and technology, now on to the magic community. At first it's like a dream, until you start meeting some of the strangest people, that have probably committed a crime since the government doesn't care at all, I mean it clicks so fast, you can go steal something and you won't get punished for it, however punishment can come in from others as many have made their own law and won't give any warnings, leading to death, or torture, or other things you'd never want to experience, if you're smart you can easily avoid a lot of the chaos though."
"Did you memorize all of this?"
"No."
"Well thanks for telling me, I feel way more informed now on the rest of this corrupted… crazy… psychotic… dark world."
"It really depends on where you put yourself for it to feel that way."
"Of course, I put myself here and I feel fine, but the magic community, that doesn't sound too great."
"I live in the magic community and to be honest it isn't that bad."
"Are you sure you didn't just go to places that are known for being safe and under control?"
"Luck plays a big role in the magic community, as you could meet some awesome people that wouldn't dare hurt you or you could meet people that are chasing you with a knife, and from my experience luck has been on my side."
"I guess, but you said you travel a lot so there's also the chance of you always leaving chaos a few hours before it starts."
"True, I've been back to the same places though and they've been fine."
"Good for you, so… do you carry any weapons for self-defense?"
"I do, actually… I can show you one right now."
"How?"
A flash of white blinds me, after a few seconds, I regain my vision to find her holding a gun in her hand.
"Cool right?"
My mind starts to fill with questions of how, all of them stressing it and starting to make me cry.
I shake my head, calming me down to take a deep breath in.
"Where… did that come from?"
"I forgot, but I know I can always teleport it back to me in-case someone tries to assault me."
"Teleport… how?"
"It's a type of magic called Teleportation Magic."
"No explanation for how?"
"Basically."
They call it Teleportation Magic… it teleports things… yet there's no explanation for why…
"Are you confused?"
"Very."
"All of us are confused for how things work, however letting that get to you can make you feel stressed out all the time so I wouldn't really recommend needing an explanation for magic, just accept it and admire how magnificent it can be or ignore it and continue on with life."
"I think I'll ignore it after a few weeks, now this gun… it's an Uzi pistol, right?"
"Yeah."
"I should buy one for some safety."
"You should."
In the distance, I spot a black figure, quickly approaching us on all fours just like a spider.
I feel my eyes bulge out and heart go faster and faster.
"Is something wrong?"
"Behind you, a... thing..."
She turns around and aims the gun towards the figure.
Everything will be fine, everything will be okay.
I close my eyes and cover my ears.
Hopefully I don't die.
"It's dead now," she says.
I open my eyes and lower my hands to find the figure, now right next to me, with black liquid gushing out of its round head onto shiny leather wrapped tightly around its rippling ribs.
I slowly reach my hand to poke its wet and squishy surface.
What is this thing?
I pull my hand back.
Wait where did Lipink-
"Ow! Ow! Ow!"
I hop around on one foot holding the other with both hands trying to stop the constant pain.
I trip and fall over onto her body, feeling the ache go away.
I take a deep breath in.
I just met this girl and now here she is, knocked out, about to travel along with me to the community she didn't want to go to, funny how things happen.
Rustle, rustle, the trees start to go, noise getting louder and louder.
Time for us to go.
I grab both of her hands and start dragging her over to the edge where the speedboat awaits.
I gently lay her down across the seats and run up to the front deck to turn the key.
I grip onto the wheel and lower my foot, hearing the cat purring now turning into a lion roaring, beginning to chase its prey.
I wonder what they look like.
I look behind me, seeing the island covered in shifting polka dots.
They come in large numbers, hurt, and can't swim, just like ants.
I turn my head back, greeted by a few droplets of water.
A rainstorm, an amazing way to start a new adventure!
A clash of thunder joins in.
This wouldn't be a good place to wake up after you had been knocked out.
I reach into my back pocket and pull out a tiny syringe and walk over to her.
She'll appreciate this later.
I raise her hand up, finding a large vein and jabbing the needle into it until it squeezes through, then I push down the plunger, midnight blue liquid slowly leaving the tube until it's all gone.
I take it out and throw it outside of the boat, making a tiny splash.
I rush back up to the front, placing my foot back down to charge through the pouring rain, already soaking my thin clothes and chilling me to the bone.
Gee, this'll be fun. Hopefully we won't die during this, even if we do, better to go out with a bang, literally!
A flash of lightning strikes the tip of the boat, breaking it off, now drifting away to a swirling hole, deep to where you can't see the bottom, consuming it and growing larger to search farther for us, the prey, trying to escape the trap we have failed to see.
no more stress for your eyes
tell me what you think
:D
