It's existed for a long time now
Viruses just mutate every once in a while because if they didn't mutate we already be immune to everything and we could never get sick.

| Not as problematic as Ebola Zaire Mayinga. That one has an 88% mortality rate, and is just as infectious. This strain isn't even that infectious. The reason it's been spreading so fast, is that it's in bigger cities. Ebola Zaire Mayinga's outbreak was in a smaller village. |

| although, we've never been immune, nor found a cure, nor has this virus mutated in such a way. this is the largest outbreak of the virus so far, but not the highest death rate. |

Ebola has mutated several times, actually. And we are also immune to a couple strains. Ebola Reston is one of them, and it is the only airborne Ebola HF. |

i was talking about this strain not mutating (i.e. the ZEBOV strain), and i meant we're not immune to all strains. |
