| I'm not a huge fan of alcohol, but as long as it's done responsibly, it's all good. |

Moderation, my friend.
Alcohol, such as wine, in moderate amounts is actually beneficial to one's health. That being said, very few people drink it for the health benefits and instead use it as a means to dull worldly woes and inhibitions. |

| Oh, and there is a pretty good reason why there is an age restriction on it. One of those reasons being that excessive consumption can interfere with the development of the brain. Another such reason is that teenagers have yet to develop the enhanced ability to discern consequences and risk that adults have. Physiologically, of course. |

I think the governments limitations to what you can and can't do on what age are exaggerated over the stereotype of an irresponsible young adult and think that a lot of things that are illegal or prolonged to a certain age should be either legal or lowered in age. (Not terribly, but I think the government gets in our business more than it should)

"beneficial"
those benefits can be achieved without alcohol and give you the same results
and to me
drink at legal age
and make sure it doesn't affect anyone in a harsh way
(also drink responsibly)

Haha, but all that in mind, I have a friend from Belgium that I got to talking to about this topic. She said that because alcohol and recreational drugs were legal there wasn't such a push by teenagers to use them irresponsibly. It follows that age old saying that if you tell someone not to do something then they will only want to do it more. If, however, the taboo is lifted then it may prove to be less of an issue.
The fault in this line of thinking is, however, that Belgium is not the same as the U.S. Just because it may work over there does not mean the same thing would happen here. |

I know it is illegal for me to drink but I keep it in moderation. I have never been drunk, I know my limits, and I only drink periodically. I drink responsibly. I personally feel the limit should be dropped to at least 18. I know a lot of teens who drink responsibly. I am sure there are many others.
