y=mx+b is the formula for linear equations
m=the slope b=the y-intercept
They give you the formula to find the slope based on 2 known points.
To find the x-intercept, just make y 0 and solve the equation.
For the ones where they give slope and a point, just plug in the points into the equation and solve for b, which is the y-intercept.
I think that covers everything but let me know if there's something else. |

If they only give you one point and the slope, for example
Slope=3 (2,5)
Then just plug 2, 5, and 3 into the y=mx+b formula and solve for b which is the only unknown value. |

for the first question
m is the slope
y=mx+b is the answer format
m=4, x=3, y=-1
-1=(4)3+b
solve for b
-1=12+b 11=b
-1=4(3)+11 |
