Give me your thoughts on it please. Tips for an upcoming Freshman? I've heard of be yourself, trust me, a new school is not going to change my attitude. What should I worry about? What should I not worry about? All feedback is appreciated. Kind of nervous heading into the year, and since I am taking Honors Geometry, Art II (not much of a big difference), and Spanish II, it only makes it worse that I will be taking this class with Sophomores.

Class with Sophomores is no biggy. I was really scared to eat lunch with upper classmen and to take Geometry with upper classmen.
It turns out, I made a lot of upper classmen friends this year, and everything went great.
I stuck away from freshman drama, and maintained a 4.0.
just enjoy it is my tip. |

1. It's normal to be scared going to HS for the first time. It's like this for about everybody.
2. If you want to make some friends, keep to yourself a bit, but be friendly to others and try to kick up some conversations.
3. Nobody really "hates" Freshmen, Sophomores will act like Freshmen are dumb just because they're not one anymore, but ignore this.

| People will tease you/pick on you solely because you are a freshman, just expect it and don't get offended, they aren't serious. |

Answer these for me before I can give you advice as a going-to-be sophomore (yes I can give my word because I've already been through freshman year)
1) Is your school a school full of rich snobby kids that don't give a crap about school, a school full of rich snobby kids who give a crap about their education, or a school with a general lower-income population, or other?
2) Do you have block scheduling or classes the same day?
3) Prepare your butt for Geometry. It requires so much studying and problem solving. In fact, go beyond the textbook/homework and do some work on your own. I didn't do this myself until the third-to-last chapter, which is why I made 79-81s all year in that class. |

| High school isn't what its like in movies. No one will go up to you and just bully you for no reason and beat you up. You really shouldn't worry about anything. I'm not the cool kid in my high school and I only get made fun of by kids that bullied in my junior high school. I'm going to be a junior now in high school. You should join a team or a club in your school. I'm in the marching band (I consider it a sport) and I made so many new friends. |

| Be with those that you can trust and you can tell they're good friends to you. If that's not the case just don't hang around those people. Try to have fun with your inner circle of friends. Don't sit there with no friends though, make some. |

"3. Nobody really "hates" Freshmen, Sophomores will act like Freshmen are dumb just because they're not one anymore, but ignore this."
Sounds like the middle school to me xD. I'd like to enjoy school, but I'm kinda shy and I stress out over everything. Presentations freaking make me panic and I'm thinking about them all day, then it only gets worse when I can't go and have to go through it the next day. Always like to just get things done ASAP.
Thanks guys for the suggestions :)

luckily my brother is friends with a lot of kids a class lower than him so i wasnt really bothered (not like people at my school would bother freshmen anyways) but ya i was the short chubby funny guy and that's how i got by
sadly my gpa isn't 4.0 because i got like 2 B's in geometry and 1 in Geography (surprisingly I won an best student in this class award) but i also got away with doing alot of work because alot of my work had answer keys online |

| It's no big deal as long as you know what you are doing and act straight. Don't go up to the first girl you see and ask her out on the 1st day. |

"The scariest part about being a Freshman is navigating your way through the school for the purpose of finding which room is where." Right. That's the hard part. When I first got to my campus it felt as if one end of the school to the other was 2 miles and 10 minutes of a walk, but as the year went on, the place got smaller and smaller.
"Contrary to what TV shows and video games tell you, seniors don't tend to bully freshmen." Correct again, it's the Sophomore class that generally does it, and in all truth, ignore them, they're on your level, they're underclassmen too |

| Honestly any social problems just throw out the window. Also try to have as many friends as possible. Just worry about school work because it's more then you'll ever expect. It's not middle schoolish 4 homework questions a week type, you'll actually have to earn your grades. |

Another thing; if you do end up getting into a deep depression, just realize that school ends, and you never meet any of these kids after. Life gets better.
I've read that you've previously contemplated with (you know) and, it's not worth it. You're a smart kid, it'll end and you'll have no problem getting a good job if you play your cards right.
another tip is to avoid relationships, unless they where to boost you in any way shape or form, relationships are great and all, but they are a HUGE distraction.
Can't get into a relationship? Good, you don't need to be in one anyways, it's a lot easier to concentrate on goals without a girl.

Ben, answer my questions #1 and #2
Actually, I'll give my answer to #2 and you can forget #1
If your classes are block scheduling, do the HW on the night you get the work. If it's a hard assignment use both days, do not put the assignment off for the second work day. |

1) Is your school a school full of rich snobby kids that don't give a crap about school, a school full of rich snobby kids who give a crap about their education, or a school with a general lower-income population, or other? They aren't rich, but they are 100% snobby. They act like they are cool when they pick up the $300 LeBrons that are just copied signatures everywhere and the only thing that is different from my pair is that it has LeBron's copied signature on there.
2) Do you have block scheduling or classes the same day? Class structure is the same every day, although I would DIE to only have to go to a class for half a year altogether. Especially with strict teachers that I can't stand.
3) Prepare your butt for Geometry. It requires so much studying and problem solving. In fact, go beyond the textbook/homework and do some work on your own. I didn't do this myself until the third-to-last chapter, which is why I made 79-81s all year in that class. Sounds painful. :S But I'm good at math so I dunno. I didn't get much of the end of Algebra because it was just too many steps for each problem, and I missed a day right before state testing, which threw me off xd.

My tip on presentations: Don't focus a ton on the actual presentation itself, instead delegate that time towards studying the information you are presenting. Sure, going up there and reading off a long script in a boring monotone will get you a good enough grade, but man is that boring.
Instead, learn your information so well that you are essentially teaching the class your information. In all of my presentations I will come up with a basic structure for how I am going to present my stuff, maybe come up with a few jokes or cool lines, run through it a few times to make sure it all sounds organic, and then I'll be good to go.
With the nervous part, it comes with practice. I know, not that great of advice but it's very true. |

I get you Sir. I hate procrastinating. Back in K through 3rd grade (maybe even 4th grade) when I didn't know how to deal with school, and when it didn't matter, I always turned it in late / didn't do it / waited until the last night.
Now when I get assignments, I like to get it over with so I can watch everyone else struggle with it in the homestretch.

| Hopefully, you have science classes like mine. Homework doesn't count towards your grade, but the formative assessments and quizzes/tests do. |

AT LEAST FOR ME:
GEOMETRY WAS 10000x Easier than Algebra.
Only like 25% of Geometry was hard. |
