What would you consider the worst and most redundant character clichés?
Terribly bored, the RP I'm partaking in is currently inactive, and I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow so posting a new RP or something like that would be pointless.
So let's chat about character clichés. |

I hate those. A perfect character is too unrelatable.
I said this once on another thread, but a character cliché that drives me mad is the happy-go-luck, self-reliant teenage character. Y'know, like say the world is ending, but they don't care! They get to go on an ADVENTURE! |

Not a fan of those either, Captin.
On the flip side, the mentally insane/psychopathic villains are just as bad. 2edgy4me |

Same, here tai, I really like a mixture of both, not to over the top crazy and not to sad of a story. Just enough to be labeled "off". |

white people uh but seriously i think personally the most grating character cliches are the highschool girls that are like "really skinny but not anorexic." another thing is when op characters get accepted because the character sheet is long. not really a cliche but happens a lot in rp.
the snarky characters who aren't really snarky. actually, characters with personalities differentiating from what they put in the personality section. im fine with character development but what i mean is like at the near beginning it's clear that this person isn't "snarky". im sure im guilty of this, which makes me more mad. also not really a cliche, but pisses me off. |

Meh, personally I haven't seen many of those Elf, but I have seen a lot of the "mysterious, deadly serious" characters. They tend to bug me.
I also hate the emotionless characters who behave more like robots than people. I can make exceptions to this one, but for the most part, no. |

| The cliche of THE... boring person with a special ability that won't come until a very crucial time. |

"white people"
omg me too
"uh but seriously i think personally the most grating character cliches are the highschool girls that are like "really skinny but not anorexic." another thing is when op characters get accepted because the character sheet is long. not really a cliche but happens a lot in rp."
Lol. I don't do many highschool RPs, so I've never noticed that. And yeah, I see where you're coming from about the wordwall, OP-character CS's. I think it's mostly because the OP of the thread just skims the long ones (and I know this because I've done it). I mean, I really hate reading appearances, especially the overly-detailed ones, yet I try to be overly-detailed in my own CS's. Eh.
"the snarky characters who aren't really snarky. actually, characters with personalities differentiating from what they put in the personality section. im fine with character development but what i mean is like at the near beginning it's clear that this person isn't "snarky". im sure im guilty of this, which makes me more mad. also not really a cliche, but pisses me off."
Oh yeah. It's hard to stay true to what you put in your CS sometimes, especially a week later when your character has evolved into someone entirely different and is hardly in tune with his/her former self, but yeah, the ones that change right off the bat bother me too.

Tai, or the "mysterious loner" thing that all teenagers want to be. Expect for us. We like to be whoever we want to be. |

@Nieol,
So, like, under-developed characters that happen to have special powers or something?
@Cyantic,

they aren't really cliches but character peeves
really the whole 'life's a secret, edgy, and brave and shy' gets you declined in any of my rps for the most part.
that's probably the number 1 reason i've declined people. |

@Kataoka,
I don't do a lot of post-apoc RPs, but lol. Us Amuricans, we like to fight fur 'r country!!1
@Elf,
Yeep. Those are terrible.
Maybe it's just my bias against teenage characters, though. I'd be a little more tolerant of reclusive adult characters, but the loner, brooding teenager thing makes me want to cry. |

@Cyan,
"really the whole 'life's a secret, edgy, and brave and shy' gets you declined in any of my rps for the most part."
So, do you mean the "TBA characters" by 'life's a secret'? Because I really hate those. I know they're only a result of laziness and a lack of motivation.
And, oh man the edges. They cut deep. |

The "hardened military badass" that plagues zombie RPs. The only reason they are there is to justify having a large arsenal of expensive and illegal firearms at the start. |

@Zootonic,
Like, "parents died in a freak accident"? I hate them too, yet I play that card sometimes. But I try to give my characters more internal struggles than external ones (like fear, relational conflicts, and what have you).
@Pick,
Maybe something like a fast-talking stutterer when trouble arises? Idk. |

| not a cliche, but when people just use one character for every rp they join. im kinda guilty with this as aya ivyria for at least 3 power rps, but still, it pisses me off. |
