(Only a lore post, although I may be making an RP set in this timeline sometime in the future. Possibly after GC's final chapter.)
Sunlight beat hard against the glossy, golden surface of a balcony, as it rested over an outcropping connected to a larger, elegant building. It was a clear day, with only a few fluffy white clouds peppering the perfect baby blue sky. Two figures stood alone on the balcony, one standing at the edge, his arms crossed over the railing as he looked out on the golden city below. In fact, even the figures themselves were clad in the bright color, their thick armor jutting out in places from a more pale robe.
"It's been years Raj-Sin. And we are no closer to either retaming the pure forms or eradicating them." A large, hulking creator, decked in golden armor and a long flowing robe of a paler color said, his hand resting on the pommel of a particularly large blade. He leaned against a wall, close to the delicate golden railing that lined the balcony.
"Hm." Raj-Sin murmured, his bright yellow eyes scanning the horizon with scrutiny.
A flock of strange looking birds caught his eye, brilliant looking beings with noble faces, their beaks large and curved as they scanned the vast expanse below them with cruel sets of eyes, searching for prey. They were a construct of the creators. And in many senses they represented the creators themselves.
"They've forgotten who they really are, who it was who gave them this life, this freedom they fight so dearly for." Spat the creator, ranting on as his head turned to face Raj-Sin. "And they only hurt themselves."
"You forget, Quel-Thuzad, that we expend energy and resources ourselves to quell them. We suffer just as much as they do Quel." Raj-Sin retorted.
Quel scoffed in response, looking away once more, his eyes falling on the very same flock that Raj-Sin followed.
"And what do you propose then, great one?" Mocked Quel, a smile forming on his unforgiving face, hidden by the ornate golden helmet he wore. "Ask the pure ones to simply stand down? Accept us as their true masters? I do believe that is the entire reason for our conflict." He purred.
Raj-Sin smirked, vaguely enjoying his partner's arrogant humor. "There are less costly ways to deal with this threat." He said, leaning forward over the balcony.
"Oh?" Asked Quel-Thuzad, his large, elongated head picking up with interest. "Do tell. For I do grow tired of senselessly murdering the pitiful fools, no matter how they fuel me."
Raj-Sin leaned back, letting his arms fall to his side as he strode away from the bright, inviting scene below him, moving towards Quel, who remained motionless.
"Considering that you actually fought! There are countless times that I've watched you stand back, throwing the Kal-Varaak* to do your bidding!" Laughed Raj-Sin.
"Bah! You speak nonsense. I only utilize the Kal-Varaak when there are too many for me to take with a few swings of my blade." He retorted in a friendly manner, lifting his blade off the ground for a mere moment before dropping it, letting it's sharp edge sink back into the glossy metal floor.
"Of course you do. I simply think that you enjoy watching them tear at individual pure forms." Said Raj-Sin.
"There is that... But we go off topic, you said you had a simple way to end this conflict, did you not? Unless of course, you bluff." He said, his eyes slanting slightly as if to challenge his colleague.
"Indeed I do." Raj-Sin pressed on, sauntering backwards a bit, his metal boots clanging against the floor.
He continued to saunter backwards until he stood in the middle of the balcony, raising his hand to conjur a large, golden colored portcullis, a very faint image being showin in it's mass. Raj-Sin then gestured towards the porticulus, inviting Quel-Thuzad silently to step through the portcullis, an invitation that Qul quickly accepted, moving from his secluded location towards the porticulus, quickly stepping through. Raj-Sin moved in soon after, his golden mass being enveloped by the portal, it collapsing on itself soon after.
The two soon found themselves on a large, grassy plain, the grass bearing an unnaturally, vibrant green color as it waved peacefully with the smooth breeze. Everything the Creators touched seemed to explode with life, their homeworlds containing beautiful shades of gold, once exiting their fine, golden cities.
In the distance, however stood a massive, golden eyesore on the beautiful plains. A large, tall tower, unfinished and golden in color, just like the armor Raj-Sin and his partner wore. It stood menacingly against the horizon, slender figures, dressed in golden armor floating about it's thick, tall mass, assisting with it's construction, guiding the larger Kal-Varaak as they lifted large metal shards towards the construction sight. Quel-Thuzad looked on, unimpressed.
"This is your solution?" Teased Quel. "A tower? Why, even a simple grunt could come up with this idea."
"No Quel." Raj-Sin corrected. "This is more than any simple tower. Once it is complete it will serve as a conduit for our powers, a conduit for us to channel our raw energies through. It will be able to release a wave, capable of bypassing the connectivity laws that prevent us from merely absorbing the upstart pure forms. This... my friend, is what will save us much time and many lives." Raj-Sin continued.
Quel-Thuzad now stepped back, crossing his arms, mildly amused with his colleague's work.
"Interesting, and well done." He said genuinely, patting his friend on the back. "Saving lives, however, was never one of our priorities, it only saves us time. Time that will be better spent creating a more perfect batch of pure forms."
Raj-Sin bit his lip at Quel's words, an action that was hidden too by his golden visor. "It does what it must, I suppose." Raj-Sin stated.
"And when will this little invention of yours be complete?" Quel-Thuzad asked.
"If we're lucky, within the next month, preparations and tests must be made, so that we too do not go down with the pure forms." Raj-Sin replied.
"Very well then..." Muttered Quel-Thuzad, sounding unimpressed. "I suppose we must continue fighting the pure forms in the meantime." He spat.
"And perhaps they will have a change of hear in the meantime." Raj-Sin added hopefully, bringing a hearty laugh from Quel.
"I wouldn't place a wager on it." He retorted, walking away from the scene, opening a portal of his own. "It would only waste your hard work here, my friend, besides, I do believe Senrak has all but forsaken the pure forms. As they have abandoned his blessing." he continued, walking through the portal, leaving Raj-Sin to watch the work his minions conducted as the sun began to sink low over the horizon, bathing it all in the same brilliant yellow gold that was a trademark of the creators.
Raj-Sin turned his head towards the sky as he heard a cruel squawk come from above him, his eyes once more falling upon those peculiar birds he watched earlier, a different flock now. They circled their master's work a few times before continuing on their path, heading onward, towards the sinking sun.
*Kal-Varaak is the Creator's given name for the species known by the mortals as "Bulls" |
