He made a thread about the outbreak of ebola in Africa, and it spread literally across the whole forum.

@Phelps Oh. Um, is there actually a chance that it could, like, end the human race?

Ebola wasn't a problem for a while.
In the mid to late-ish 1900s it was a big problem in Africa.
It is a pretty bad virus, though. It's shaped oddly, mutates easily, can kill your immune system with ease, and causes symptoms similar to Influenza-A, except the symptoms don't show until it's advanced.
It kills 90-95% of people infected with it.
Not sure why it's being talked about in 2014, but yeah, it's a pretty nasty virus.

I doubt it. It'll get contained, or an antidote will be found.

@Flunken
It has the potential to. There is no treatment or vaccine so if a large outbreak would occur we would be helpless.

It's being talked about because there's a horrible outbreak in Africa. The worst outbreak of Ebola, actually.

It's only a problem in Africa last I checked. And the Ebola Outbreak was the mid/late 1900s, not 2014. |

Ebola isn't the only problem.
The deadly cureless infection known as MERS, a Saudi Arabian Virus that somehow managed to infect three people in Illinois a few months ago.
