my dad and I brought our Colt AR-15, Ruger LC9, and Sig Sauer 229
The Ruger LC9 is a small, compact 9mm that carries 7 rounds. I find it uncomfortable because it has a pretty long draw and my hand gets kinda shaky when I try aiming.
The Sig-Sauer 229 is a 9mm that carries 14 rounds. Nice, medium-weight pistol imo.
The Colt AR-15 is a semi-automatic rifle that carries 30 rounds, though I usually just load it with 10. It fires 5.56 and .223. Really fun to shoot, the only problem I have with it is that the barrel and the guard around it get super hot.
I was down to only 15 rounds left on the AR-15 and I ended up just shooting as fast as I could pull the trigger, it gave me an adrenaline rush and I thought it was pretty cool. Some guy was firing (I don't know the name of it) a revolver that shot .460 rounds, some other guy tried firing it and burned himself somehow.
TL;DR I went to a shooting range, went pewpew with 2 pistols and a rifle |

| Largest caliber I've fired was my dad's .45/.410 Taurus Judge, which is a revolver that shoots both rounds and shotgun shells. When I first shot it my dad had to hold my hands, but I eventually got the hang of it, also the .410 slug kicks way more than the .45 or .410 buckshot |

| Oh, I so wish I lived in a rural place or something, that way we'd have a lot of land for our own little outdoor range where I can take shots at notebooks or cans or something. |

| I don't live in a large one but guns are basically illegal where I live (Long Island NY) so I have a large property upstate where we have a range and where we store our guns. |

| Yeah LI is insanely restrictive on everything you do, I hate it here. When I go to college I hope to go to UAF and get an AR when I get up there. |

@Mage
Some people use it for defense (my dad used his Judge,) others (like us) use it for fun, some people hunt with it, too (which is a dumb idea) |

Why is using an AR to hunt a dumb idea?
And I don't *need* one but I want one to taste the freedom. |

| Just pointless to use a 5.56/.223 round to hunt when larger and more practical rounds exist. I'd prefer to hunt with a .45 or a .303, something like that. Plus a 5.56 is a tiny bullet, you'd need to place the shot just right. |

| .223 is plenty for white tail deer unless it's an extremely large one. And a .45 is a pistol round which would be terrible for hunting. Size of bullet =\= effectiveness for hunting, an expanding .223 is plenty. |

This is pretty much basic knowledge, how is it pseudo-intellectual? Anyone can learn this stuff easily. |

| Funny how he pretends to hate gun control but says any talk about guns is redneck. Last time I checked growing up in the suburbs doesn't make one a redneck but if he thinks that's what a redneck is that's fine. |

First: Why in the world do you need an AR to defend yourself? If you're that paranoid sticking a basic knife you can buy at any grocery store under your bed is more then enough.
Second: How exactly is shooting a gun fun? You're just firing at stationary targets over and over again. |

I've fired a judge before. They are fun, even if they aren't very accurate.
ARs are expensive now that so many people are buying them. |

That's how some people see it. I think it's fun cause you get to practice your accuracy and it helps train yourself to steady your hand. Also you get an adrenaline rush from it, but I dunno, it's pretty opinion-based to ask someone why shooting is fun.

I live in this magical wonderland called "The United States" where criminals have access to guns, and I prefer to use a gun to defend myself (Not the AR, rifles inside a home are just unwieldy) |
