I'm currently attempting to learn how to build, but I have no idea what to start with. I've tried in the past, but everything I attempted on was just way too complicated.
What was your first build, if you can remember back that far? I'm asking so that I can start with something that some of you guys have already started with.
Also, any tips? I know that you need to be patient and I know all about CFrame plugins and everything, I just can't make pretty things. qq |

Plugins make perfect. I would recommend build v4, and f3x's building tools.
I mostly focus on terrain, so my tips would be keep it smooth. |

| I suggest, instead of following what people have done, for your first build you should think of the most simplest thing you could ever imagine, a house? Probably a city, and you just keep adding on. Start small and began making it bigger and bigger. My first build was actually a training base :3 and I just kept adding more and more. Just let your imagination flow. |

My tips is to start sloppily. Main reason here is because it lets you learn the roots, rather than Jumping in and guessing what to do.
If you base your buildings off Deadzone vehicles (From DeadzoneZachZak) It really helps teach you. I can't explain how, but it taught me fairly well. I hope this helped.

Make a box out of a single part, and work out what looks best to colour it, and texture it. Then make a hollow box, by putting down a base part, and build 4 sides (no roof), then make a roof to it, maybe C-Frame do it is upon against a wall? Then add a wall, and floor and texture it. Is the floor made of wood? Make floor boards (no specific measurement needed). Then add 3 walls and a door. On my old account TheDominusPrimus, I did building lessons at R$100 a go, first excerise I do, everytime. Tip 2, when you start out, ALWAYS use 1/5, studs, not 1, or X, always use 1/5. It allows for presision that is not particularly hard. [:TDP:] Add 1.9k to my post count |

What i would suggest First Is Get something that Is unique, Has inspired You And think long and hard about it but dont over complicate it. The next thing is practice. I would suggest you use Quenty's cmdUTL, Build v4 plugin, F3X (For build mode) Or just the studio collision check. The next think is to Start working on your build bits at a time and slowly build it up. If something doesnt work dont Get Angry Just try and find another way to do it. Also look at other peoples builds or look on youtube for Tutorials. The last thing you need is patience.

| My first real build was a small center using provided roblox tools. (Aka stuff located in "stuff") and objects. Only 3 free models were used. It was supposed to be a training/meeting center for a group of mine. |

| I started on my old main(dansta23)i just used free models, try build replicas of models. Thats how I learned to build, but I started building properly this year mainly on this account. But I started in 09 when building wasn't really a thing, it was free models aha. |

My first build in 2009 was a free model rocket launcher shooting a free model X-wing...
But if you want a serious one, I made a japanese pagoda and archway out of a few thousand bricks. Never finished. |

But remeber that building must be inspiration and love of it. If you dont enjoy it then you wont do it well.

My first build was a small place called Serenity http://www.roblox.com/Serenity-place?id=142685822 The reason it was successful was because I was inspired to build it. Not that I was hired or told to. |

My first build was a simple cabin. Not very pretty , but it looks fine to me. I added it to my first game. I had more in this game but it crashed terribly, then I lost some data in the backsaves. Too lazy to go look for it. http://www.roblox.com/My-First-Attempt-item?id=82262957
I would suggest building something like your house or a building you can visit. This way you have the blueprints right in front of you. Use your own body to calculate the scale needed for a roblox build. No matter what you build there is always room for improvement. Don't rush.
As a decent scripter you have an advantage over others, try building a car with steering and suspension or some script intensive vehicle like a working backhoe or shipyard crane.
Furniture is a good way to learn some tricks as you need meshes to create the fine details. |
