actually upgrading gpu doesn't need a new MoBo which makes you get a new CPU since new mobo might not support your old cpu, if it does i dont see a need of upgrading unless its a very cheap one. or unless your mobo doesn't have x8 or x16 lanes

o yah forgot that part you might need a good mobo to support PCIE 2 or PCIE 3 depending on what card you're gonna get |

pcie 3.0 isn't even that much of a need atm imo 2.0 does is job good enough and till it's a bottleneck your cpu might be a bottleneck for the gpu too
