This is a really important poll about Arke fighting.

BEFORE YOU ANSWER READ THE ENTIRE THING SO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE ANSWERING. THIS IS IMPORTANT AND MAY DECIDE HOW THE GAME WILL TURN OUT.

Alright, so...

We all know animations are some of the most computer-intensive things on this game. What happens is the animation is calculated by the user's computer, then the data is replicated over to EVERY other player on the server. As you can imagine, the amount of computation multiplies fast; for a 20 frame animation over a 12 player server, 240 frames are calculated for LESS THAN A SECOND of animation. Ouch.

I can solve this problem and relieve lots of lag from Arke's game if we localize animations, so that only the user sees their own animation, but everyone else doesn't.

What does this mean?

Well, this means that your FPS animations will look amazing, but you won't be able to see everyone else's animation.

I currently have this concept implemented already. At the moment, the following animations are STILL replicated to everyone in the Arke alpha test place...
- Regular "ROBLOX"-style limb swinging
- Wallrunning tilt
- Bullet animations

But that's about it. That means you can't see other people's sprint animations, movement animations, ADS animations, etc.

I sacrificed these types of animations, but on the upside I'm running at a full 60 FPS at the test place, and I'm using a standard straight-out-of-the-store laptop. That's including the gun models, which now have over 120 parts each (of course this will be reduced to around 1 when CSG comes out, so don't be scared).

Now, the question...

Would you rather trade your FPS for a more immersive and amazing looking game (basically I mean do you want to see other people's animations) or would you rather have a super fast game (but you still get to see your own amazing animations)?

trading FPS for more immersion would kill it for some who can't Handel a game like runescape or roblox

for the sake of being fair

i would trade immersion for FPS in this matter

im not a scripter but like if ur not seeing every movement cud the character not show where they r truly at all times?

Immersion rather than FPS. There are many, many ways to increase the Roblox FPS with PC tools.

You should find a balance point between the two. I do like animations, but even if they are only 10 frames a second I will be satisfied.

Unclear, the problem with this is that it would actually affect combat.
With the animation part of this, combat will generally be more precise.

With immersion, fighting will probably be much easier for people with better computers. Personally I resize my window so I can get a good FPS in laggy bases with higher definition.


I'd like immersion, since in FPS you wouldn't be able to see your own animations very well.

Unclear, you should think about the general audience. If goes well you'd want general roblox to like it, not just us.

I'd say put sprinting back as it means we can tell when people are actually sprinting.
