| As far as I can see, it is stupifying a generation that feeds into many of its immoral and troubling messages. |

Some of the old rap wasn't so, socially suggestive. |

| I honestly just have about 10-15 rap songs scattered throughout a time period of about 15 years that I ever listen to. |

| Rap is a problem. It promotes gangs, violence, and uncivilized and unproductive behavior. Its effect is more prominent in, you guessed it, black communities (ghettos). |

@Pickup. I'd say you have a point but I think blaming a music genre for that is like
blaming video games for mass shootings. Or spoons for fat people. |

@Scy, I think music is different. Music is almost hypnotizing. I mean, its much more powerful than video games.
At leats for people who are really into it, the catchiness in the background of a poor message can change how you think. Music is proven to change moods. |

I'm not saying it's the main cause, but you can't disagree that rap music has a very strong impact in ghetto communities. I think rap is an exception when you compare it to violent video games because there is no evidence for violent video games causing real violence, whereas there is visible cultural impact caused by rap music in certain communities (though the impact isn't necessarily violent).
Or, maybe, rap music is a product of such behavior and simply a reflection of it. Even still, it appears to help fuel some negative/counter-productive behavior among the community. |

I don't know, I couldn't take more than 20 seconds of it. But you seem to be implying that music has no effects on the minds or very few, and I would strongly beg to differ, but its really not worth arguing about. |

@Vuradech: I'd have to agree.
@Flamma "The only music my buddies from AP classes listen too are rap."
So a few nerds want to be cool. But still, more people listen to rap in ghettos than in AP classes. |

I'm sorry but what kind of rap are we talking about? Some rap music is actually very inspiring, and not about drugs. Some are just well, silly.

Is it wrong to ban it in those communities tho?
Like its part of their culture, but it also can warp their culture. |
