10.)Amorphis-Tales From the Thousand Lakes This is a mindblowingly great album, some may argue that Amorphis are better now that they are progressive metal or whatever, but they're wrong. This album fuses melodic death metal and folk metal with death doom, and it has such a great sound, the vocals are done in this amazing whispered kind of growl. Best Track:Magic and Mayhem
9.)Mastodon-Crack the Skye I could of put Mastodon's entire discography on here, but I decided to limit it to Crack the Skye. Most people agree this was Mastodon at their finest hour. This is an interesting concept album too, something about astral projection and worm holes and Rasputin. Best Track:Oblivion
8.)Vektor-Black Future
Probably the best progressive thrash metal album ever, the riffs are great, the vocals are pretty great, even the high pitched squeal that he sometimes does works, everything is great about this album. Best Track:Black Future
7.)Gorguts-Obscura
One of the most challenging extreme metal albums of the 90s, excluding Mr. Bungle, it probably is the most challenging. This album was Gorguts at their finest, they released albums that added on to this style, but none matched the power of Obscura. Best Track:Clouded
6.)Acid Bath-When the Kite String Pops
A classic in the Stoner Sludge genre, heavy, abrasive, riffs, it's got it all, making it one of the best and most important in the genre. Best Track:Dr. Suess Is Dead
5.)Pinkly Smooth-Unfortunate Snort
IMO, one of the greatest avant-garde metal albums of all time, it's on the lo fi side, and I mean VERY lo-fi, this is sadly the only album the band released. The keyboards in this album really stand out, fantastic keyboards. Best Track:Pixel & Nasal
4.)Ghost-Opus Eponymous
This is a fantastic album, quickly becoming a modern classic. The catchy song structures and the Blue Oyster Cult/Black Sabbath esque riffing really sell it. A great album, great entry to the genre too for someone completely new to metal. Best Track:Death Knell
3.)Kvelertak-Kvelertak
This is a really energetic album an interesting fusion between black metal, hardcore punk, and hard rock. One of the most energetic albums I've ever listened too. Best Track:Offernaut
2.)Black Sabbath-Black Sabbath
To be fair, I am not going to put more then one Sabbath album on the list all though I easily could. So a shout out too Paranoid, Masters of Reality, Black Sabbath Vol. 4, and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. This is the album that started it all, what else can I say, riffs are heavy, basslines are great, drums are amazing, vocals fit perfectly. Best Track:The Wizard
1.)Dream Theater-Metropolis Pt. 2:Scenes From a Memory
This is my favorite metal album for a few reasons, the way the story is told through the concept, the amazing instrumental work, the ragtime keyboard solo on "Dance of Eternity" and so on. It's a really good album. This is Dream Theater at their finest. Best Track:This album should really be listened to as a whole. |

"never said I didn't, I just like their first five the most"
i was just kinda ranting cause most Black Sabbath fans hate it for some reason, IMO it's one of their best. |

| All of black sabbaths are quality. I mean, Never say die is my least favorite, but its not disappointing at all, its just all of them are so good that its hard to find a worst |

Your #1 boosted my respect for you by so much, but I already consider you a best friend.
Otherwise, have you ever heard the album Ghost Reveries? It's a really good album. |

| Also, check out "At The Edge of Time" album if you haven't. I'd say it's as good as Ghost Reveries and Metropolis Pt. 2 (I definitely agree with you there, that album is no doubt DT's best work) |

| Blackwater Park probably would of been my choice but by the time I thought of it I already filled the list, Blackwater Park, Metropolis Pt. 2, and The Sounds of Perserverance are almost a tie for number one |
