| No they wouldn't. Look at dolphins and whales. They have a human level of intelligence but they look nothing like us |

| According to science, that would, in the 99% chance, look some what like us. Thumbs like ares are a necessity. They would need hands and arms if they want to be able to use tools. They would have a large brain to store more knowledge and a large brain means a skull to protect it. So in theory, they would look a lot like us. |

| The size of a brain doesn't always mean an incrased intelligence, it protects the brain from freezing, for example: People living in northern areas like the Inuits do have larger brains than people living in warmer areas. The alien brain would be full of roundings and tubes like our brains. |

Honestly scientists think they wont look like us. to much randomness to evolution. id even go as far as to say we probably wont recognize them and they probably wont recognize them |

| In the end though, I think we can all agree that some kind of fingers would be a necessity. |

| @2013Yay, yes true, but a large brain means more storage capacity, and the greater surface area of the brain, the more computations it can do, that is why are brain is wrinkled. Wrinkles = more surface area in smaller spaces. |

Dolphins and whales don't look like us because they live in the oceans, silly! Also, they don't have an human intellect. They're not even close, but they are more sentient than other beings.

Isn't anything alive "sentient"? As anything alive can feel. Heck, they did a study that showed rats felt regret after making a bad decision. Bugs fear birds because they are eaten by them. Is that not sentient? Plants can, in a special, plant like way (it really confusing how it works), feel pain.
sentient - able to perceive or feel things. Synonyms - living |

Nope octopuses use tools with their tentacles and elephants with their trunks |

Dolphins know math, have cognitive culture, are able to recognize themselves in the mirror (that is a huge factor in intelligence, only a few species such as humans can recognize themselves in the mirror), and have language and communication like humans |

@Super
The whistle-like-sound that dolphins use to communicate is diverse and varied, yes, but it doesn't technically qualify as a "language".
Dolphins know math? In what way? Do you have anything to back this up?
"only a few species such as humans can recognize themselves in the mirror"
A lot of animals can recognize themselves in the mirror, yes. Dolphins included. But that doesn't imply that they're as intelligent as humans.

| I'm assuming that any intelligent life will be bipedal and also have opposable thumbs. |

^And what do you base that upon?
Also, notice that I said bipedal, not humanoid. |

| Dolphins don't have the intelligence of a human. Last time I checked dolphins are not on the moon. They also don't have cars, facotries, etc. |
