Leans Conservative,
but fancies himself as independent of those cutural norms or conservatives and liberals. I agree with some things on the liberal side, some on the conservative.

@Duck
You seem pretty liberal.
You tend to stick out of the previous cultural norms.

Then again, Liberals support affirmative action (which I call "affirmative discrimination" as it's just that - discriminates against people based on the colour of their skin), and I don't.

I also support gun ownership. Whether it is made legal or not, criminals will get their hands or guns regardless of what the law says, and citizens have the right to defend themselves.

I personally don't support gun ownership,
mostly due to the fact alot of killings are not from criminals. Alot of killings are people with previous mental problems, or no criminal record. Of course hardened criminals will get weapons somehow, but people who just get mad and get their gun and shoot someone won't have a gun readily avalible.

The United States has a special connection to firearms that started back even before the Revolution. I'd say that if you don't know your history, don't live in the United States, or simply take in what the media spoon feeds you, you don't have any place in a pro/anti gun argument

Military grade weapons are not available to the civilian market. What the media calls "assault weapons" are SEMI AUTOMATIC firearms designed in a military fashion. They do not have the option to go fully automatic or burst fire, they're simply semiautomatic LEGAL rifles. You using AK-47s as an argument is extremely invalid.

It was not meant to be literal.
The point is, a musket from 1700's America with not even a flintlock is nothing compared to a simiautomatic weapon. and what are you even going to do with guns thats not recreation?
Oh yeah I forgot, protect America from invading forces, since the last time that happened was 200 years ago...

There is always the persistent threat to our liberties no matter how far away or nonexistent you may think it is. The second amendment is what allows the civilian population to keep firearms, wether to defend from a domestic threat or a foreign threat.

You may say "but their weapons are inferior! How could gun owners fight an army!?"
Ever heard of a guerrilla war? Try a few million guerrillas holding out for years, even decades maybe. The Japanese emperor said himself, "In America, behind every blade of grass there is a rifle."

Also, what you say about flintlocks just reinforces my point. Back in the day civilians and the military had firepower of equal strength, which should have made the gun control lobby just a teeny bit stronger had they existed back then.

You just made my point. No one has ever won a war with weapons, but strategy. America got the British out with guns and strategy, not just running around with muskets.

Who said American citizens can't use strategy? Are you implying that? The entire concept of a guerrilla war is strategic, quick battles with no open confrontation.

"Who said American citizens can't use strategy?"
I'm implying the exact opposite. I'm implying the need for free weapons without a gun permit is uneeded because of 2 things:
1. Americans can win a war with strategy and shotguns.
2. you can still get a gun though permit instead of letting mentally ill people and their parents buy guns so they can massacre innocent people.

Having to need a permit to purchase a gun is like having to pay a poll tax to be able to vote. It further limits he rights given to us in the Constitution. Where does it say the government can impose such restrictions? Nowhere. All states already have a lengthy background check on those that want to purchase a firearm, explosives and automatic/burst weapons are already banned and have been for a long time. I would rather have the risk of getting shot than to see my right to own a firearm taken away, but then I'd get shot anyways by some thug that got his/her gun on the black market.
