I know you say they have to "Set the series up", but I was just sitting there with a blank face. I for one enjoyed the first SAO series, and I see the problems in the first, but this was bland. At least in the first series, it set it up better. I don't mean I have to be in GGO immediately, but it left a lot open.
Seeing Kirito and Asuna together was great and all, but they just really didn't do anything for me. All of their dialog in my opinion was really filler with them STILL saying how they dress like they did in SAO and talk like it is surprising even though it has been a full BLOWN year.
Also, I get why he called Kirito to investigate, but this plot has too many plotholes. I won't get in too deep, but if a company that creates a game that has "incidents" the company will be actually DOING something, and they have to because they would want to cover this up. LOL nope, they have no contact with the world. Like seriously?
I was generally disappointed and hope the series will pick up steam. The animation was nice like it should be, and it wasn't horrible by any terms. The world of GGO seems interesting, and showing off Sinon at the end was cool even though it really didn't need to be there.
I would give it a C+. |

i just don't understand how these types of games are freely allowed to be around even though it seems to be so easy to kill people IRL in them

After watching the opening a few times, I noticed that I gives some possible information about who possibly plays the "unknown" characters.

Everything is really mysterious. I am basing it all on this episode alone, but I feel this incident won't just attract the attention of this one person, but the whole world.

So much agreement. I miss when Asuna was a really cool female character! Now she just seems to follow Kirito around. :/ I wanted this season to be better than one but IDK if that is going to happen! :(

SAO has a lot of potential I'm just waiting for them to nail it. S1 had too many filler episodes and plot holes!! I still gave it a biased 7.

I liked SAO season 1 even for all of the plotholes and filler. I just felt season 1 had a stronger opening.

@OrcaSparkles That's why Sinon is going to be the strong female character of this season. Also, Kirito is going to be a female, so... 2 independent female characters who don't need no man.

That doesn't mean they change the last strong female character. Asuna is still incredibly interesting and I just didn't care. We are judging this episode alone, and in that case it is incredibly disappointing.
