Lollapalooza is allegedly the "biggest rock concert" in the United States. Though, their line up never makes sense. I mean really, here's an example from a previous concert: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine, Kanye West, The Beastie Boys, AFI. Its like finding who doesn't belong. This years concert is no better. I mean really. When Eminem headlines a rock concert, you know its gonna suck. So in the comments below, explain to me how an alternative concert features a rapper?

Vanilla Ice does suck. Once you have Vanilla Ice appear on your TV show, or at your concert, you know its gonna suck. I mean really, this dude tries to revive himself in every way possible. He writes one mediocre song, and reaps all the benefits from it. Then people get tired of it, so he tries to do rap metal. The metal genre then rejects him like an ex-amish kid. So then he disappears for like 10 years and resurfaces on the food network trying to be a chef. So really, this fool just needs to let it go. Also, I don't really mind rap-rock. RATM is really good. Same with Linkin Park. I think the worst genre is Rap-Country.

Well, back to the main point of the thread. I live in Chicago, Lolla isn't a rock festival, it's a music festival.

Originally, it was a rock festival. The band "Janes Addiction", which by the way is an alternative band, founded the concert. It was intended to be the largest rock concert in the U.S. Which bands like MetallicA and Red Hot Chili Peppers main event. I guess over time it just turned in to a lighter version than it used to be. I think since its 3 days long, they should just do pop on day one, alternative on day 2 and metal on day 3. Then it appeals to both crowds. I just don't see the point of eminem or lorde there. They don't quite fit in with the crowd they're attracting. And since when is Lorde bigger than AFI? I know AFI really isn't that good, but AFI has been around forever.

Perry Farrel from Janes Addiction still runs Lollapalooza. And it wasn't made to be a rock festival, it was for a farewell tour.
