| Like Doom, Serious Sam, Quake, Half Life, and Wolfestein. Those games are much more challenging than today's crappy FPS games. The levels were long complex mazes with monsters waiting at every turn. And there was no regenerating health, nope, you had to find medpacks around the level. |

Today's FPS games are fine. Chill out. Some FPSes still feature medpacks and difficulty. Also, in many of them, there's difficulty options. Too easy? Pump it up to "death wish", or "Insane", or whatever. |

In terms of gameplay, there's one called ubersoldier that's pretty good.
The story is absolute garbage and the AI can go die in a hole, but there's healthpacks and power ups like in your classic games. |

| There's a rougelike FPS that was greenlit on steam. It's pretty neat. |

Serious Sam 3 didn't come out that long ago and Serious Sam 4 is coming out eventually.
