my family keeps track of it.
my great great grandpa on my dads side was fullblooded irish, he immigrated to america around the civil war time and was forced to fight for the union
my grandpa on my moms side was fullblooded german, he was initially a n@zi, at the age of 13 during world war 2, influenced by german propoganda. he fought some, but eventually his parents moved with him to america. |

When my grandpa died (I was a young kid back then, I think 9) my dad told me that he was from Argentina, also when I was a kid and would complain about stuff my dad would shout stuff like "you should be happy, when I was your age I had to do homework by myself! I couldn't ask my parents for help because they could read english!", and "when I was 5 I had to pick up english on my own!" but he never really specified anything.
I never asked my mom about her ethnicity until I was older but I remember on st patricks day every year she would be all proud and she has a lot of clover stuff and my grandparents were always buying my sister and I Claddagh jewelry. But when I was older, I asked my mom what my exact ethnicity was on her side, and she told me that my grandma was adopted and my grandpa is mostly irish (he has a welsh surname though) but both of my grandparents are american. |

Either my mother told me or it's glaringly obvious.
On my mother's side, I am an Italian with a Jewish Heritage (i don't practice but relatives in Italy are). My Great-Grandfather fought in WWII with a certain bunch of people called Niceys after he and a bunch of others were conscripted to fight.
On my father's side, it isn't exactly enthralling. I have mostly British roots from his family, but it is believed by everyone I know that my father is part Aboriginal (native Australian, basically meaning he's black). You only need to look at him once to know he isn't exactly white. The only thing that's stopping him from coming forward with him being Aboriginal is that he, like my mother, is massively racist. |

I am Irish, English, and Polish. The Irish side comes from my Dad's side as well as the English side and also, my Mom's side is Polish.

thats the same thing with my dad and my mom, my dad is mestizo (he is american though) but he tells people that he's italian and my mom just pretends that too. My dad is always looking down on other latino people and he didn't even tell me that I was latino until I was 9 or 10 (I can't really remember, I think 9 though) and he still hasn't outright told my sister or my mom, I've told my sister but she pretends that it's not true. |

@ssempre
No offense at all intended, but when an obviously mestizo person goes around saying he's Spanish or Italian or some other Latin, it makes people perceive Latin-derived peoples are "nonwhite"
This isn't meaning being nonwhite is bad, it just means that the racial part of their heritage is misconceived. The best example of this is the U.S calling mestizos and full-blooded natives "Hispanic," when they mostly aren't. It would be like calling a fully black guy that speaks English "Britannic" |

@flower Waah
@crusader I don't see any influence in her. Her father is probably just a swarthy mediterranean besides in all the countries in South America everyone is Mestizo if you are not a second or 1st generation european immigrant no matter if you have amerind descent or not You can have people with light hair eyes and fair skin believing they are mestizo or 1/8 indian down the line no matter if it is true or not |
