I have to say, these are my major picks (No specific order or genre) -Eminem Reason: His lyrics are deep. Everything he raps about ties into his personal life and/or future. All the other rappers rap about the same thing. With a few exceptions. -Owl City His synth and vocal combinations are pure angelic muse. He's so positive and uplifting.
Anyone else you can think of? Post!

Despite not being C&G, I don't like music of this era Hybrid Theory and Meteora.

Well Eminem is up there but not for that reason. It's because he has such a unique, game changing flow and style that honestly brought rap music out of the dark ages. Now rap is popularized. There are MANY rappers who rap about their life and important issues, you just don't know much about rap so you have never heard of them. Plus, I could name several Em songs that are completely irrelevant to everything. This isn't a bad thing, and Em knows how to do this properly to create amazing albums.
Owl City is a joke. Hate to say it but they eat mushrooms in a basement and create awful songs that are only creative because they are tripping. This isn't a random speculation either, I read something about them that proved this.
Other artists that should be among the "greats" of our era: Elton John Justin Beiber Adele Watsky Childish Gambino etc.

@nolan
I know of tech n9ne. I didn't say fastest, I said game-changing. Tech's flow is great but not game-changing. Em's flow is game-changing because it has it's own style to it that works incredibly well and was therefore adopted by other atists, therefore changing the game. |

"Hybrid Theory and Meteora" >names of albums, Linkin Park would be the artist But yeah I would put Linkin Park up there too though.
@val JB is actually a good artist. You can't deny that he sings incredibly well, and the production on his songs is incredible (at least for his more recent music). Whether he does the producing himself or not is irrelevant, as in the end it is HIS music and HE is the artist. That coupled with a very impressive, though annoying, fan base, I would put him as one of the greats.
I would also like to add JayZ and Kanye. |

@Wall, I named the albums because those 2 are the most influential from Linkin Park. Although, the Hunting Party is everything they've ever done into one album, so I guess that one too. |

@nolan "wasn't the same" doesn't mean bad. His music is still amazing even if it did change. It's different, not worse. People who only like old Eminem are people that can only handle angsty rap.
@Ariate But that's ignorant. By saying that, you basically say all male singers are bad. Because in your eyes, he would be a good artist if he didn't have a meat stick. His voice isn't even that high (it did used to be though). Bruno Mars (another great artist) can hit notes much higher than JB. |
