unarguably the most powerful genre of music
arguably the most technical genre of music
unarguably the most diverse genre of music

I don't love it but I like it, metal really fills out the spectrum in terms of the mix, especially in the treble end (tone).

I like it when musicians know how to play on real instruments, that's all.

yeah because no other genre of music requires talented instrumentalism

It depends on the person/song.
You can't turn around and say "Hey! I'm going to enjoy metal music!"
You sorta have to be "born" with it in a way?
Personaly I don't have a certain fave genre, but certian metal songs are fairly decent.

genres like black and folk make use of keyboards

granted, most electronically produced music is terrible, but that's for reasons other than the mere fact that it's made with computers

@Assassin

Even if they use keyboards, let me remind you that they still use guitars, drums and etc..

"You sorta have to be "born" with it in a way?"

while that's sort of true (I read a book on music that went over music preferences), there is no doubt music is universal. Its fundamentals lie with moments of symmetry in frequencies and linear meter, it doesn't matter where you were born or what music you have heard if those two things are fulfilled then it will sound at least not bad.

well yeah
i'm just saying that the hostility is often directed at the very presence of electronic instruments rather than the way they're used

Well I don't think metal is good for me. That's my opinion.

But I understand now why you like it.

I dislike a lot of new (in terms of the last year) EDM but it's not the same as other types of music... it's more about production and the sound rather than complex counterpoint and rhythm, and there is an artistic value to simplicity too
